I'd just like to say that any DE that hasn't been to the Droid Engineer Cave on Lok needs to. I went and was slain, BUT I got to see the Droideka ROLL (yes they do roll!) all the way over to me to do it. I also caught a glimpse ofa IG88 as well.

Oh the future looks bright...

... and I know it's a stretch, but has anyone "completed" the DE cave? I was wondering if there was a hidden schematic or anything out there? =)

Don't get your hopes up TOO high over the Droideka. None of the devs have even hinted that the Droideka would be a buildable/usable combat droid in January or February publishes. So far, the only thing planned is to make all existing droid "combat-ready" and the addition of 2 new low-end combat droids (exactly WHICH droids those will be, is purely speculative).

The idea that the Droideka would somehow be added into our list of droid schematics (or it being a MDE-Only droid, for that matter) is the result of rumor and player-wish fulfillment.

Not meaning to sound grim, but what we'll probably see is our R2 units and BLLs being able to attack at the same level that the probot was at before the last patch (50 to 56 damage), and the new combat droids doing slightly better than the post-patch probot. One of the devs has even said that the best combat droid will probably not be any better than the highest-end non-CH pet in terms of damage. Not exactly awe-inspiring, in my opinion.

I've seen droidekas roll on lok before. Is this a new animation? Never seen the DE cave.

It's a POI on lok, right by the volcano.

And I REALLY think that the Droideka Schematic will be a quest item for Master DE's, much like the RIS armor. That is my *speculation* but I really think that's what they'll do. It solves all the problems in one neat package!

Droideka actually just run free on Lok, albeit not a TON. You can definitely find them at the cave but they also roam the prairies. It's pretty cool to see them move/react with 'pack behavior'.

There are actually 2 variations of Droideka, and this has me believing they are going to add in a Droideka to build at some point or another. You can get the armored Droideka (or just high resist maybe, haven't been there since patch), which function actually like an NPC (you can poison, bleed, and such, even though they are metal, and get loot). The other variation, with either 10% or no resists (haven't been back since patch), act just as player made droids. Immune to Poison, Bleed, no loot. They droid variation is also the one that actually shoots lasers. The thing is, before these were level 10, but then, a few days before the creature patch, they changed them to level 35. I doubt they did this just to make the cave harder, because they are only found in the cave, the ones outside are NPC. My theory is that they are preparing for new combat droids possibly. Maybe not soon, but in the future perhaps. The Assasain Droids also function as droids, and not NPCs, so thats a possibility as well.

Oh, and as for the animation, its cool, yah. It would be nice if the NPC droidekas would shoot lasers, not invisible 'force shots' as I call them. Any NPC that doesn't use actuall weapons do that though (Ewoks, Selonians, and such) so its normal I suppose.

Ive seen three variations of the droidekas, two wild ones of different strengths (both not difficult to solo) and Nym's version, which seems to be stronger.
