Thread: Droid Engineers and Squad Leaders the Deadly Duo?

There's an idea being kicked around on the Squad Leader board about bringing the E-Web repeating Blaster into the game as a squad leader only weapon. The thing about this weapon is that it would take two players to operate, the Squad Leader would be the one carrying the E-Web itself and maybe a droid engineer would be there to regulate the portable fusion generator or the power droid. So the way it would go in theory is that the Squad Leader deploys the E-Web, the Droid Engineer them deploys the portable fusion generator, Squad Leader sets himself up and takes aim while the droid engineer regulates the portable fushion generator or a power droid. This may sound boring on the part of the Droid Engineer, but would really make Squad Leaders want to run out and befriend a droid engineer. Not to mention that droid engineers could become one of the most valuable assets to a group with an SL. I just thought I'd throw this out here to see what your reactions are.

I like it... but you'll find a lot of people have DE as a secondary crafting professionso they don't have combat skills.

Well the way I'm thinking of it the Droid Engineer wouldn't need any real combat skills. The group would just have to make certain they had a Doctor to keep the DE and SL alive since they would both have to stationary to operate the E-Web.

Well, I think it would be nice to be wanted BUT, (and the big but here) there are so few us to go around you would be hard pressed to ever use the weapon. With the advent of the holo's there are bound to be more, but they are fleeting and just passing through. I actually took my MDE title off my character sheet so I wouldn't get tells by them anymore.

I"m a DE/SL. Do I get to use the E-Web alone. Lol.

If you've been keeping up with the SL boards the whole point of a squad leader specific weapon is that it requires a combined effort.

Truth be told, allowing the Power Droid to take up this function, without the need of a DE to supervise, would be a lot more practical. SLs would still be able to group, but could do so with the droid instead of needing a DE around.

That would be nice, but I think what started the whole two player weapon thing is that theDescription of the E-Web itself says you need two people to operate it, I suppose a droid can regulate power better than a sentient being could. However I think that the purpose is to have two characters working in tandem to operate this proposed uber-weapon.

I have to say I like this idea. But I can say on my part that the group that I fight with are very good at sharing the profits from out kills. Whether that be from Krayt items to hides to whatever else we are out collecting.

True, but Squad leaders are rare too, maybe not as rare as Droid Engineers, but still not a profession you see more than two of even in the main cities like Theed and Coronet.

I think the DE should get DE XP based on what combat XP the SL gets with the weapon.

Sure beats grinding.....

I'm capped with DE xp... I'd much rather have combat xp. Getting crafting xp for something combat just seems wrong.
