Thread: Master Artisan needed to be self-sufficient DE?
Hi, I'm working my way into DE now. It's been fun doing artisan stuff, as I've never done any at all before this.
It appears to me that several important components in many droids can't be made by even a master DE, rather they are made by a master artisan. This surprised me a bit. I'm trying to work my way up both the DE and artisan professions now, but it will be a squeeze for skillpoints.
I just can't see trying to make advanced droids and having to beg/buy controllers or memory modules off of someone else who might even be a competitor.
Am I wrong? Are a lot of DE's not master artisan as well? If so, is this or is this not a pain in the butt?
Maybe the things are cheap and plentiful on the market, but I'd still have thought that a master DE would be pretty self-sufficient at making droids.
I guess to REALLY be self-sufficient, one should also be a 0/0/0/1 architect at the least, in order to make power cores, and if you want to make your own bigger harvesters you'd need to train up even more in architect.
Personally, I find level 6 armor so convenient it's all I bother with anymore.
I see this as a good thing. Many furnature, tailor, and chef schmatics require scouting skills to be slef sufficent. thats atleast an extra 15-25 skill points depending on how good you want creature harvests to be.
And don't forget you need combat skills to kill those creaturs.

True, true... Although a case can be made that just stacking level 4 and 3 armors together on advanced probots allows one to circumvent the need for armorsmith.

Actually Stacking 2 Level 3s that have been experimented upworks. I only use level 3's for all my droids at this point, factory run. Lot cheaper.
But to be perfectly honest, inventory space is more of a problem for me than money, so the level 6 modules are what work best in my case.
By the way, by selling BASIC probots with maxxed armor as a baseline combat droid, I do a bit better, because they get the full armor, but I don't need to do the extra bit to turn chassis into droid.
