Thread: Which Components to Experiment on?

Hi guys.

Got Master Artisan & been grinding away toward Droid Eng (out of choice NOT because of a holo!) and am now 0 0 0 3 on the Infinity server.

Now I can start making some of the better stuff (probots etc.) that might actually sellI was wondering which components are the critical ones to experiment to get the best droids?

For example,if I'm grinding droid frameswill it matter if these aren't experimented? (AFAIK u cant get a macro to experiment for you as part of a grind macro)

I presumethe modules benefit from experimenation as they are what gives a droid its capabilities but I was just wondering about the other stuff (brains, frames, manipulator arms etc.). Likewise with the Master Artisan stuff needed for some of those components - do they need to be well experimented as well?

Cheers for any advice/info!

unfortunately experimentation does little atm, 10 added to HAM on a 820HAM probot that sort of amount , all experimentation seems to do is increase the complexity of the object created which in turn adds to the likelyhood of crit fails

I wouldn't say there are "critical" components on which to experiment. I would say:

  • Crafting modules

  • GSM (General Socket Modules) - the 3-in-1 components

  • Droid chassis

  • The final droid deed

That's about all I experiment on.

Be aware that experimentation does NOT appear to have a serious impact (very little, if at all, as a matter of fact) on the outcome of a droid. That is, if you experiment on a Medical module, you won't be able to drastically change the healing level that's seen on the final product.

So, experimentation is somewhat......errrr....broken.

No, not really.

You presume incorrectly. Well...more correctly, your presumption is correct, it just doesn't happen that way in the game. It's supposed to (you'd think) make a difference but expermentation really doesn't.

About the only thing that we find that does seem to be true is:

Experimentation can have an affect on the likelihood or possibility of getting a "critical" on the final droid deed build. If you build parts that all have negative "Quality" (or similar) stats, you will be more likely to get a critical when you deed it.

That's about the only item that makes experimentation worthwhile, best as I can tell.

I am planning on a test run of adv R4s tonight. The final droid takes no resources only components. On unexperimented components I tried to experiment on the final deed. I could only experiment on the worthless top one, what ever that is called (never moves from 0%). I will have more information tonight ala Drashk.

I did do the test as planned, I found no combination of chasis and droid brain experimention to effect the final build of the droid. Meaning I could not experiment on the final droid, no matter what. I made these droids without any Modules. So I will go back and add Modules to a new test, unforunately I cannot do the test until Friday.

Hey Zed,

You won't find anything other than the results that I had in the LE test.I ran a few tests of the crafting system using the Cluster Stack bug, which was what spawned the LE test. Basically, I crafted 20 Clusters of every high end module and 20 of every low end module and then built them into a droid. About the same results were found as in the LE Mechanism Quality test.

The only thing that increasing the Mechanism Quality is doing right now is lowering the chance to have a better success, since the Complexity is increased with a better Mechanism Quality rating. Higher Complexity ratings = a lower chance of abetter success rate. Without the Mechanism Quality having an effect in the building process there isn't a balancing feature installed to raise the success rate.

I'm just trying to save you the resources.

Its no problem, I can sell the R4s for cheap. I did read your LE tests. But the adv R4 is unique because it only takes the components. If one could experiment on the droid itself after just installing the components, then would make a difference, better or worse. I don't see that happening.

Thanks for the info guys & I look forward to theresults of the R4 test.

It's sort of good news in a bad way though isn't it? I mean for us guyson our wayup to MDE it means our droids to sell will be the same as anyone else can make - of course thats NOT good news if you're already a MDE and it also makes the whole idea of getting to MDE for the experimentation points all pointless! Lets hope they fix that soon (but not til I've got to MDE ok?!)

Cheers again guys!
