Thread: Publish 8 going to TC today
Keep in mind that on TC I'm not a DE so I can only list new things, not neccesairly schematics. We'll have to wait for Jenden to do that.
Testing will then start tonight, so look for reports later on tonight and tomorrow.
Let's try to keep a few focused Publish 8 TC threads so that we don't all have to be ready 800 different threads on what's there.
Get ready, all...

Respectfully,
Gotta love the NEW and IMPROVED (tm) Dev Communication...
/end sarcasm
You mean to tell me that we have to wait for the damn thing to go to test before we even have any clue as to what we're getting? I thought they were trying to improve communication with the player base? We didn't get a single "In Concept" or "In Development" thread for either of the two supposed DE publishes.
This is why there's 15 days left on my subscription.
I know this is frustrating but, in this case, they actually kind of took some of our past advice.
It's been said before...'Hey! All the information you need is right there on our forums and such! Why don't you go look there instead of asking AGAIN for information!?!?!'
..............so that's what they did.
Again, I understand that it's frustrating that DEs didn't feel actively engaged in this process and I'm working up a 'guidance' proposal that we can follow to address such concerns down the line. This is the 'We don't know how to make suggestions that you'll approve, since you give us no guidance' post.
I'll work up a draft and get it to them and we'll get a set of protocols back for any/all future DE-related proposals, changes, etc.

Respectfully,
They already have "In Concept" and "In Development" boards. Maybe they should use them? Why do we get absolutely no information until it hits Test? It is completely rediculous.

And another thing...
TK, you say they're going back and reading our forums. That doesn't give me a whole lot of hope, seeing the bang-up job they've done in the past of interpreting our wishes (Rember the whole "DE's want DH" debacle?).
Even if they don't come to us for new ideas, they could at least give us a clue of what they're doing, maybe we could give suggestions or tweaks to make things work a little easier...
/sigh

That's the whole point...they can't.
The reason is that if they breathe a word about what they are working on, a lot of DEs means that we WILL see that feature. The problem occurs that some features get some work only to find out what they won't shake out in the long run. We've heard that before right? (*cough* DE Hybrid *cough*).
My point being that too many DEs can't keep perspective when talking about things that MAY happen. Just because a redname posts here about an idea, people think that it's a slam-dunk foregone conclusion to make it to Live.
If that doesn't happen..they look bad for appearring to promise a feature that never materializes. That is why they talk about having their words and comments twisted about to be used as fodder against them, etc.
It's really a no-win situation for them, honestly. I didn't used to see it as much that way but I do now.

Yup. It's a yuckier PR problem than most think. Managing player expectations is something I've gotten a lot of insight into lately.

And if they post a change and we don't like it, then they reverse it (i.e. experimentation changes) then that does not fly. Kind of a Catch-22, I'll admit.
I can see why they are so concerned about what they communicate due the fact that a good move on their part can lead to unintended consequences. So, I think the 'say nothing' thing is sometimes an attempt to go to the lesser of two evils.
Yea...it bites. But there it is (race ipsa locquitor).

We will make a change. The change will be somewhere in the state of Nevada.
I was able to dump info on them, etc., in relation to our situations and issues. I hope you'll see that a lot of thing have been addressed.
If you do see this in the upcoming notes, it is showing that they are 'answering'...but they do it in what they code more than in what they post.
Yes, more information is better. Gimme some time, folks. I just one lowly little DE, afterall.
