I PMed Q, but I seriously doubt he will take notice still. We ARE Droid Engineers afteral.

The way to get attention is to say that you are a creature handler with concerns, *then* give him the link to the DE board. Maybe that will actually get a look, if not a response.

This is for Q-3PO as it is to long to fit in a privit message.

The first this I would like to say is this is NOT a complaint nor is directed to you or any other dev. I just want to know: Why?

I was surfing the boards today as I always do but I got board and started roaming around my professions board and saw a post that caught my eye (the post is enclosed below) so I went in to it the post. the post is not my concern what made me write this what one person said.

And to the guy who was wondering why these problems did not get worked out in beta it was not for our lack of telling them that there were problems. I have no idea why more dev time was not spent on droids. They are so central to the star wars universe. Much more so than creatures.

When I came a cross this I thought you know that’s true but the Devs are so busy, and spread so thin, we will get out time.

Then I thought you know I bet the CHs are complaining about not getting any love too... so I went over to that forum. The first thing I saw was a post from you telling them what will be fixed on that profession its a OLD post yes but its a post from a dev telling them that they are important and that some one is listening that alone is more powerful than you know. I was very heart broken when I read that because the biggest complaint I hear on our board is that we get ignored. Our bug list is set up as a list in A, B, C format that list goes to T. and includes 2 exploits. There is also a list there that lists things that may be bugs, this list goes to L. I know that you know about this list as there was once a message given to our Correspondent that you gave this list to our Dev and that he was using it a guild for running down the problems in the DE profession. But then I head that our guy has been busy helping with creature mounts and that’s great for the game in general but it brings me back to my point.

My problem is that droid truly are: central to the star wars universe, much more so than creatures.

So why am I explaining every day to another customer that yep that’s all a droid can do, sorry is not what you need or sorry a probot is not something that can help you fight go see a CH. I’m going to include something someone said that just kind of shows how bad it is, but can we PLEASE get a well though out State Of The Droids In SWG post? Or just more than hearsay that stuff is being worked on? I do have a strong love for this game and want to see it become even better that the great game it is. Also it is true that I am a part of the minority that reads and posts on the forums but I don’t believe that makes my request less valid.

Here are how Droids work currently.....right now, Droids have no "inherent functions." A protocol Droid doesn't translate, a Binary Load Lifter doesn't carry things, and a Repair droid doesn't even repair. A droid's abilities are solely determined by what modules are put into it. Each Droid has a certain number of slots for modules (although there are Socket Clusters which allow us to put three Modules into one module slot).

The different modules are as follows:

1) Medical Modules: The droid will improve on the healing capabilities of the player, as well as allow them to heal wounds outside of a hospital or campsite.

2) Item Storage Module: Stores a handful of items. I think the most you can store is up to 10 or something close.

3) Data Storage Module: Broken and completely worthless right now. I believe all they do is store extra waypoints, but even that might be bugged.

4) Crafting Modules: These allow the Droid to act as a private crafting station. Higher-end items require the person to be near a Private Station to produce them, so rather than be stuck inside a building, the droid owner can craft wherever the droid is out, such as in cities, in the field, etc.

So now I know what you're going to say...."That's it?" And the answer is....yup. Of all the droids we can make, those are the only uses, except for one extra: combat. The DZ70 and Probot droids are capable of combat, but only the latter is worth anything in battle, and even then they're not as good as a Creature Handler pet.

So now I know what you say next...."If a droid's function is determined solely by the modules in it, what's the point in paying for a higher priced Droid type if the function is the same? If an R5 is just as good as a protocol droid, why pay for the more expensive one?" And to answer that, I say, "There is no answer. That's the biggest problem with the profession right now."
