Thread: Easy Fixes to make DE an integral part of the Galaxy
Gentlemen,
I have been playing this game for about 6 weeks and chose Droid Engineer early on. It occurs to me that there are two sub-groups in the game. Those that fight and those that craft. If the Developers could simply allow the BLL to repair maintenance on harvesters with out using credits, and the power droids to supply power to harvesters without needing to harvest the power first, the DE's could make a good living selling these types. Much like the demand is high for weapons, armor, and stims, things used by the fighters, DE's need to service the people crafting these types of services.
Just a thought for the Developers and the upgrade would take no time to patch. This would at least reward us for the extreme amount of time invested in this profession.

Now see, here's the problem. Say the BLL can repair harvesters and whatnot. How fast does it repair them? Naturally you'd need to leave it out, but doesn't that then mean that Droids would also have to become static entities which can stay out in the world?
It is indeed a simple idea that would help us greatly, but I worry that the implementation might be hard.
SimgaTech, Droid persistence is being worked on at the moment, or haven't you noiced the number of Droids, and pets alike, that are getting left out in the middle of no where. Here is a test for you to try out...
Have your droid tail a friend around an area, while you take a shuttle or log out.Take a couple of shuttle trip and then ask your friend if the droid is still following them.
I've been testing this one for the last 3 nights, by having my BLL stalk someone as I move from planet to planet. All 3 times, the BLL has kept on following the person even after 4 shuttle flights. This has been in the game for a couple of weeks now, and has been getting a few tweaks every few days, if my testing results are correct.
Actually, I've noticed that this was happenening about two months ago, almost exactly as you are saying. I haven't noticed any changes whatsoever to the behavior of pets when you are logged out or leave the planet at all since I first noticed it.
I haven't commanded a droid stay in the same spot and then take a shuttle, but I have had a few on patrol and then taken a shuttle. I also know that if you command a droid to stay and then log out for a few hours, your droid will befound in the same spot when you relog.
I first noticed droids staying persistent on 9-16. On that day, my droid stayed in the world, even after server re-boot, which is why I noticed it in the first place. This was removed about 1 week later, and then when it reappeared, I noticed that a Droid wouldn't stick around after the server was reset.I haven't tested if droids stick around after system re-boot lately, since I keep forgeting about it or fall asleep before the server comes back up.
A few hours ago, I left my BLL standing infront of my shop and then logged out for about 1 hour. I had forgotten that the BLL was out and called another droid, so that I could use its crafting station, while standing near my factory. I ran back up the hill to my shop, and there standing in the spot I left it was my BLL and there behind me floated my Probot. For the first time since I started playing a DE, almost two months ago, I was able to repair one of my own droids. (Don't ask how a BLL ended up with wounds). I've heard of the multi droid bug before, but it wasn't until I was thinking about droid persistence, that it dawned on me about the apperance of my second droid, and what it could possibly mean.
Take a look at this thread that I started a few weeks back, and tell me what you think......just ignore the last line of the last paragraph....
