Thread: MSE Droids as Messengers and Delivery Droids

I'd like to see MSE droids useful for delivering items and/or messages.

Basically, you build a MSE Droid with Item and/or Data Storage, and maybe some sort of Seeker-droid functionality. You drop an item into the Droid, or a bit of data, then choose "Deliver" from the radial menu. You are prompted for the recipient's name, and if that person is on the planet, the MSE will seek them out, deliver the stuff, then return. If the recipient leaves the planet or logs out, the MSE will return with a "Delivery failed" message.

Advanced MSEs can do the job better, by having a longer range and armor to better survive hostile encounters along the way.

Thoughts?

Yeah, that's actually great. I would really like at least some business to be conducted this way. You basically have a mobile vendor that you send to a waypoint, and maybe it works on the /consent system. We could use droids for delivery. To deliver all sorts of... LOOK OUT ITS A BOMB! THAT MSE IS SET TO EXPLODE AAAAGGGHHHHH!

very smart...not only have it deliver goods to others but also allow it to monitor harvesters from afar (feed it a way point and it will go and empty the harvester and return with the minerals)

also a droid that can pick up goodspurchasedin bazaars all over the galaxy (that way you use up the same cost in ticket but never leave your planet to get the goods you buy galaxy wide)

I was mainly talking about deeds for our droids. They are basically just square nuggets until you, um, tame them. They will fit in our mouse droids just fine. Until the MSE explodes and takes your precious deed with it.

I can picture myself sitting on my porch and seeing a binary lifter walking through the lake and me thinking, "oh boy! I hope it's for me," and then cussing when i see it turn into the neighbors

I like this idea alot, however, this is where I want some realism Not much, just a tad. For delivering messges. A MSE is great. However for delivering items, let bump it up to one of the R# droids. Serisouly .. think about the movies .. How big is a mouse droid. For gathering harvestros, I love the idea .. however .. Binary Load Lifter, tada ... its not like the lifter is doing anything useful anyway

Awesome idea...but make it a "delivery" module we craft...and the chassis it goes into determines its capacity. So a BLL could deliver, say, 50 items, while an MSE could only deliver a single item.

We REALLY need a FedEx...

This makes me feel ancient. I can't even remember how long ago that this idea was proposed the first time. Thought it was a decent idea then and think its decent now. Just feel like I need someone to come clean the dust and cobwebs off me.

I would gladly shell out big-time for a droid that would do this!

Interesting. Great ideas like this come from people shelling out $11.00+ per month to play this game.Meanwhile, thedesignpeople getting payed $110.00+ per hour are still trying to figure out how to program their VCR's.

Hmm... I think I'll have to rethink my planned Resume submission to SOE... My time is far more valuable and productive than to settle for for a mere $110/hour

- Account: Master TKA (cancelled)
- Account: Master Doctor (cancelled)
- Account: Smuggler (cancelled)
- Account: Master Chef (cancelled)
- Account: Master Droid Engineer (activity suspended pending developments)
Total loss of annual revenue (SOE): ~$715US to ~$900US
- Bad press: Priceless
Should Sony and Lucas Arts be worried? (15000 users * 5 accts = ~$13MIL in potential lost gross annual revenue) If I were the CEO for either LA or SOE, I would certainly be worried.

Heh. Well, they may be getting payed more or even less then this -- I've seen some strange compensation for "talent" in the game industry. I was merely adding a "0" to the end of 11 to help exaggerate the point.
