You know what really bugs me?


The fact I must get of my speeder to survey then click and hold for the radial on the vehicle to come up, not once, but twice and sometimes three times to get it to say Enter vehicle, speed of in the direction of the highest concentration, stop press and hold for radial menu on the vehicle not once, but atleast twice to get it to say Exit vehicle.


I know some uses macro's for this, but should that really be necessary? I mean. its a crappy code if it recognizes that you are on or off the speeder but the radial menu dont update until you select it a few times.


So while I was doing that today I thought about a survey module that could be fitted to any of the 3 vehicles. It would be very limited in its use and range.


It should work somewhat like the autorepair module. A pulse sent out every 10-20 seconds scanning the ground in a 50-100 meter radius. Slap a survey II or survey III skill requirement on it.


I mean come on. We should be able to do more on vehicles then just sit on them. We can't do combat (Can on mounts) while riding a vehicle, we can't trade, we can't talk to NPC's and we can't invite to groups.


I dont think this would be unbalancing. Other modules could be fitted to the vehicles as well. Like a trap-tosser or something.


I just find it frustrated that I have to spend more time getting on and off a vehicle then surveying the resources

Yeah, it's ugly. But seriously, you want a macro to do surveying while on a vehicle. Have your tool open and the appropriate resource selected, then target your vehicle and use this macro:

/dismount; /pause 1;

/survey; /pause 1;

/mount


I need both pauses to make it work consistently, but your lag may vary. (Without the pauses I frequently try to survey before I have completed the dismount, so I get an error message.)


Remember that you don't have to survey ever 150 meters. Any useful concentration is going to be at least 500 meters wide, so even if you want to be really careful you only have to survey every 300 meters or so. It's sufficient to find the edge of the concentration, after all... at that point you zero in to find the peak.

Another great thing to add in to that macro is


/target speeder


That way if you accidentally click off of your vehicle, you'll still target it and mount it. (/target speeder works for all vehicles)

I agree this would be nice, although I also remember surveying before vehicles existed. Would it be nice to have this option, building modules into vehicles? Yes. Is it critical? No. For now, I am happy that I no longer have to run all over every planet to find my resources.

You are right. I also remember how it was to survey when there were no mounts or vehicles. What bothers me is that the radial menu isn't updated as it should.


I get off the bike and the game recognizes me as being off my bike, but the radial menu on my bike gives me the option to get off the bike the first and sometimes second time I click for the radial menu. Selecting the option tells me I can't get off the bike since I am off the bike.


Also Vehicles and mounts were added to help in some way. Go from point A to B faster, outrun aggroes and to cope with harvester maintence faster. In short to make the game more enjoyable. Wouldn't it be more enjoyable if it was possible to do more from the back of an animal or the seat of a vehicle?


New additions are added all the time, thinks are being tweaked, but not much have been done with vehicles and mounts since they were introduces. We got paintkits which was a fab for about a week then it became a hassle to use since the paint wore off to fast. Changes to this is in publish 8. But if you look at a swoop or a speeder you notice what looks like a weapon under the seat, but still we can't fire from our vehicles.


I think there would be more additions to a vehicle. While on the back of a mount we can fight. No specials but we can still fight. I hope SOE adds more usefulness to the vehicles then traveling from point A to B faster then on foot or on a mount.


I also hope they fix the radial update on the vehicles, as I said in my original post. I dont think we should ber forced to use macros to get on or off a vehicle on the first attempt.

Actually, save yourself a command and just use


/mount speeder


It'll attempt to mount your vehicle, targetted or not.
