Thread: I love combat droids!

Just some feedback i've been wanting to give for a while.
YaY for combat droids!
I was given a combat capable R3 (CL13) a few weeks back but never really played with him.
The other night however, I decided to give him a whirl.. and what's this i see?? He's got an awesome little buzzsaw =)
Watching him chop up those newbie mobs has got to be one ofthe most enjoyable experiences i've had in this game for a long while.
His little lightning gun is cool too of course.
The little guy is now my constant companion in all my adventures, and even earned himself a name when he beat a guildmate in a duel.
Once patch 8 has hit the servers I am considering running a "robot wars" event for my PA.
Of course now I am secretly wishing that I could be a droid commander... but I dont want to say that too loudly on this forum 
So in closing, Congrats and thanks to the devs and the DE community (Especially your corespondent) for seeing such a cool little feature put into the game, and all the best for patch 8 (I hope it goes smoothly for you guys).

I've been involved in a droid gladiator type fight, they're great fun. Only downside to them is right now there just isn't enough diversity in the droids.

Using LE repair droids with different personality chips to play Rockem Sockem Robots isalso quitefun, but this post just goes to show me the futility of our Combat situation, instead of the goodness. We're relegated to novelty and sideshow status. Sorry to bring a happy thread down a little. I'm glad you like your droid, but I for one still refuse to make Combat R droids because its so antithetical to what star wars droids are meant to be.

What are you talking about ??? Next patch our "sideshow" combat droids get a major HAM boost.

Since our droids are useable by anyone, this new boost to our little guys is a huge thing. 5K HAM is not small potatoes for the new and mid range crowd, plus being able to heal the guys is a major boost as well.
I personally look forward to this next patch. The BE's seem uninterested in making pets for the general population (non-CH's). This will be a big and new market for us. The utility modules were nice, but I think the new HAM's for the combat droids will end up being the bigger sellers.

Are you kidding? One night I was trying to get some pistols xp (had just rerolled character) and pulled out my probot. I saw some mountain squill, and sent my droid after them. I would attack, then heal him, attack, heal. In this way, I was able to solo a mountain squill. Not bad for pistols 3
