Thread: Please recommned: Best Combat Droid for non-DE
I want to use it like a pet on Endor or other planets. I have some medic skills so that may also be a plus, but I have stims for healing.
Thanks!
Enebo
Honestly, there is only ONE 'combat droid', and it's not REALLY made for combat, but serves in a pinch.
Probots are IT.
Some day, we'll have more, but right now just find the best probot at the best price you can. All that REALLY matters is the armor, which maxes out at medium, 40% resist.
What kind of damage aretey capable of? How well do they last in combat, with 40% resist (ie how much HAM do they get?)? What's atypical price range?

Probot and DZ70 are the only combat droids. DZ70's usually die in one hit and Probots only have 810 HAM and do 50 damage. If your going to buy one id get a probot with some goiod armor.
Probots do low damage, comparable to a medium-grade CDEF weapon.
With 40% medium armor, they absorb damage fairly well, taking about 4000 points of non-armor-piercing damage before keeling over. Once that happens, though, you've got a fair wait until it regens it's health.
This combination means they are ideal for initiating combat and getting aggro. Once your target is locked on your probot, unload your heaviest shots into it, and enjoy the results. Some people keep two or three probots, putting away the damaged one to heal and pulling a fresh one out for the next combat.
My take? It's better than NO bodyguard, especially for an artisan such as myself. In fact, I tend to travel with both a probot and a cowardly gurreck, thus having my own little battle group. My gurreck has been killed more often.
