Thread: Well, I think I'm hanging it up

I've tried to hang on, but I just can't do it. I feel like I'm being a sucker. Here's the situation as I see it. I'm a DE. I've played around with combat and just don't find it enjoyable enough to play another class (and the grind of trying to be another artisan isn't apealing either). So, I've been telling myself that I'd just hang on because I *knew* that they'd be fixing the DE profession any time now. Well, this latest patch, along with some dev comments has told me that DE fixes aren't anytime soon

Did you notice that the next big patch focuses on player cities and then AFTER THAT, mounts. Given that our dev is currently assigned to mounts, that means AT LEAST 3 more months before any significant changes, and that's optimisticly assuming that they can take the class from where it is to "viable" in a one month cycle, which I don't think they can do.

So my choice is, hang on and keep paying $15/mo hoping that in 3 months the DE profession is viable or quit. Well, given that there are a number of upcoming games that look fun, I hardly see how spending another $45 waiting for these changes to "maybe" happen when I've already paid nearly $100 for makes sense ($50 for game, $45 for the last 3 months).

And, here's the real salt in the wound. Even though I'll be quitting, I would have loved to be able to lurk in the DE forum to follow Sintrosi's posts and keep up with the changes. That way, I could come back when things looked more promising. Following other boards won't give me the kind of insight I get from our profession's board. But, alas, SOE has seen to it that once I quit, I'm out.

The saddest part for me is the fact that, looking back, I just realized that I've blown almost $100 on this freaking game. Considering that a) the game wasn't even released with the features promised and b) most of the professions, as released, were seriously flawed, I find it insulting and I'm kicking myself for spending the money. Normally I'm not the type of person to whine about spending money for a game or having to deal with some bugs. If anything, I'm the one telling people to chill and just be patient. However, given the way they have handeled DE's and given the amount of money I've spent, I just can't deal with it any more.

Oh, one last thing. I find it even more insulting that we're basically being told that the DE profession isn't getting any changes right now because our dev is working on mounts, yet, they've found the time and resources to tweak and massively change several other professions. Again, more insult to injury.

*sigh*

Understandable Vuri. I myself have thought it rather depressing that this "profession" I've worked so hard to master has no function, no customer base, and (in the short term) no future.

Im going to stick it out, but thats only because I've got 4 other accounts to play onand can dabble a bit. If not for that ....well I'd probably be right behind you.

I've already switched my house name, title etc to Master WS and I'm selling weapons now. When people ask about droids (lol once in a while they still do ask) I just politely tell them it's not worth it to make droids any more. I haven't yet resigned the DE points but I'm not far from that. The bottom line is that the devs have NO clue what to do and they are just going to continue to ignore the class. I'm not paying $15/mo to be ignore so I'm moving on. If in the next month or so there's no sign of DE love, I'll give up all the skill points and do something useful like armorsmithing or something.

I agree with the combat not being very good. And as for DE I build and sell droids all day long. I have never had an issue with trying to sell my droids and have sold hundreds of them. I have millions of credits. But, every day I play the game I just look at it and think it could be so much better if they had just finished the profession. At least let us experiment so we can compete with the other DE's on who makes the best droid but the way it stands now we all just make the same junk.

I will never buy another game that SOE has thier name on. And its too bad for them because I played EQ for 18 months or so and would buy into EQ2 but when I look at what they did to this game and how they treat thier well paying and loyal customers it just makes me sick.

I'm with ya Warrhawk. I enjoyed playing EQ for years. I couldn't wait for SWG to come out. Oh if I had only known. No way I'll buy EQ2. In fact, I'll never buy another game associated with SOE either.

I haven't been posting much lately because I find that I only have negative things to say about this game these days. My subscription runs out in January. That will be the end for me.

How could they dare call this game Star Wars without droids?

I am out also.

The last two weeks, I think I had been on maybe 15mins total. I also feel as I am a big sucker if I continue to play this half finished game. Well, half from a master DE point of view any since more than half the droid either are useless or broken. My account is good until Oct 11, I think.. I had massed a good deal of droid chassis and factory components that I was planning to make people bunch of droids before I go. But, I am afraid I am just too busy and don't really have the desire to log on and make useless droids. If anyone is interesting anything send me an in game email and I will try to respond to you before my account expires.

I have over 400k resources and about 50-100 or so factory crated of each droid components.

Good luck to you all.
