I think the non-combat based players in the game need bodyguards. I don't mean Master Bounty Hunter with Novice Artisan. I mean like Chefs, Armorsmiths, Droid Engineers, Entertainers, Weaponsmiths and the like.
These examples don't only happen to me, but most of the non-combat oriented players I know.
1) Landed in [city] and was killed instantly when I stepped forward by a NPC enemy. There was no way to fight back.
2) I went to a POI and was killed instantly by wild animals hanging around the area surrounding the POI.
3) Picking up resources out of harvesters and not being able to defend against a group of wild animals.
4) Not being able to get the [quest item] due to lack of CL to defeat certain enemies.
Having droid bodyguards would limit the risk of dying while traveling from place to place. Missions could be soloed. They would take hits for you while you ran if attacked by opposing faction. Something to fight with in PvP conflicts.
The bodyguard ability could only be given to certain chassis' which not only become bodyguards with appropriate components installed, but could be built for other things, too. Only people lower than CL5 (ish) could use bodyguards. The guards could be strong enough to use in quests (ex. Clone Armor Relic quest), but not the harder ones (ex. Myyydril Caves with Necrosis (Grievous Clone). Strong enough to fight PvP for you, not strong enough to beat everyone in PvP (proposed MAX CL for bodyguards: 67). Special modules could be made that improve the use of a bodyguard (and other droids depending on purpose of module) as if it were a "living*" guard (see below).
Here are the new items that would enable us to build a bodyguard:
Droid Chassis: Battle Droid, Super Battle Droid (already used as guards by Clone Armor quest contact), Destroyer Droid, **IG-100 series model** (already in-game as NK-3 “Magna Guards” a.k.a. Grievous’ bodyguards)
********Modules/droid components:********
**bodyguard brain** (brain that allows the to become a bodyguard because it thinks faster than droids equipped with advanced droid brains)
**bodyguard motive system** (allows the bodyguard to move as fast as its master),
**bodyguard sensor suite** (allows bodyguards to analyze targets and surrounding to better protect its master)
**bodyguard manipulator arms** (allows the guard perform more complicated tasks than that of a droid with a regular manipulator arms or manipulator arms package set)
********Optional modules/droid component:********
jetpack module (allows droids to keep up with master; uses more power when turned on),
**advanced jetpack module** (allows bodyguard to hover while fighting, decreasing the chances of getting hurt; uses more power when turned on),
vehicle repair module (allows vehicles to be repaired from a disabled state to 25%),
**advanced vehicle repair module** (allows vehicles to be repaired from a disabled state to 50%),
radar module (detects designated targets further than players radar could see i.e. specific animal),
**advanced radar module** (it allows the guard to alert master of all enemy targets that are farther than master's radar so that they could avoid those targets),
auto-pilot chip (allows droid to drive multi-passenger vehicle to given WP avoiding all buildings NOTE: needs radar module to build),
**advanced auto-pilot chip**(allows guard to drive multi-passenger vehicle, avoiding all building and enemy targets NOTE: needs advanced radar module to build),
**weapon equip module** (allows bodyguards to use a weapon rather than just a combat module i.e. CDEF Rifle),
Quick heal modules (allows healing of all wounds, but 5% more wounds at a time, 10% slower than a doctor),
**advanced quick heal modules** (allows healing of all wounds, but 10% more wounds at a time, 5% than a doctor)
**Bodyguard Personality Chip** (allows the guard to talk like a bodyguard i.e. verbally warns others that get to close)
These guards would give non-combat player a chance to survive in this post-CU universe. I know someone could get another player to help in quests and to protect them, but they aren't going to be on every time that the non-combat player is on. If you see anything wrong with this idea, please post it.
*Living bodyguard would mean a guard that has a range of talents that make being a guard more than fighting. That would include basic medical knowledge, basic vehicle repair, advice, warns other people about getting within range of their employer, etc.
**Bodyguard only module**

Nice point. I was considering the idea of my new crafter toon going Jedi, and actually RPing it as a Jedi, in hiding etc. Focusing on the crafting aspects.
Unfortuantely thats practically impossible becasue there is no way my crafter could get through the theme parks.

Because I've edited the orignal post. I've changed the wording of the post, added module/component ideas, corrected spelling, added correct names of quests, changed values around organized the infomation so that is was easier on the eyes. I think people could read it again to better understand the post.

I don't think you'll ever see droids above CL30 without some form of skillpoint investment. However I've been very happy with my CL30 probot, it has helped me clear off a decent number of harvester sitters, I used him to grind scout at the Sludge Panther Village on Talus and I've wiped out about 100 Binarye pirates trying to get heating elements. Yeah, all of this has been against creatures well below his level, but it unlocks content well above my level (CL5).
