Thread: Is your CL 30 probot being beaten by low CL mobs ?
No - i think something weird is going on b/c i have had the same thing happen. My droid got owned by a mutant womp rat whereas last week he was fine. I had just charged his battery for the first time ever and i don't know if that might have had anything to do with it. ie. needing storing after recharging to 'set' it as charged or not - pure speculation here.

Interesting thing was I then pulled out my CL 30 R3, and I did not see any damage degradation when I sent it into battle. It stayed strong against all MOBs I threw it up against.
So in summary, yes, I am seeing an issue with probots.

Very important question here if you are seeing something like this.
Does it make blaster sounds, or that 'other' sound?
Perhaps we should do a mass test and finally hunt down the cause of this, if it's not random.

Yeah I keep forgetting to check for that. I'll do so this evening.
Its not limited to the spitting sounds.
When RD and I were testing out the intial Pub changes, Red-Dwarf noted that the droid would sporadically drop in damage and would take more damage then it should.
It seemed to happen most often when the droid closed for melee combat.

In my experience (and I always take note of this because it really, really pisses me off
Every time a droid spits, it is doing lower damage.
Any time a droid is doing lower damage of this type, it is either spitting or making no sound. In the cases where it is making no sound, it is almost always in the first few exchanges of the fight (and so I think those instances are simply a server-client syncing issue with the changing of the droids state, so I don't think that can be counted).

Now that you mentioned this it seemed to ring a bell.
So I went off just now to do some testing. What I found is that the change takes place when the droid and the target close to within 30m of each other, which I assume is where a change in the droids combat state from ranged to melee takes place (this is with the probot).
From the limited testing I have just done, when the two are over 30m apart, the droid always (100% of the time) does max damage (blaster sounds included).
If they are within 30m the droid will always (again 100%) do low damage (with spitting).
If during combat they cross over the 30m limit they it will switch from one state to the other (although I can only see this going from ranged to melee, as I can't get them to move away from each other in combat. all npcs here).
If people could check for this when they see this happening we might be able to confirm it, if this is actually what is happening.
Out of my Probots and R3s on my characters, I can only get it to work with my Probots so far, as the R3 is stuck in melee and can't do ranged right now.
This could perhaps actually be related to changing from the default combat state, which for the probot would be ranged and the astromech melee. I know the probot doesn't have a ranged/melee toggle, but it does have melee behaviours.
