I know it's extremely tempting, as I have a bunch of steel that I use for making my droids that would sell nicely. Just be careful about this. Right now it's really only the insane grinders than can afford to pay that. The smaller shipwright that is having to take their time and sell everything they craft is already struggling.
The median top-end across the SW boards has been 5cpu for ships. That's alot of cash for the higher-end ships. By jacking up the prices on the resources we may see an increase in that. Once the market is used to a higher price, it'll be hard to bring it down. Letsnot contribute to premature inflation and price hiking.
Don't forget, that it's possible that it'll be a long time before a shift hits your respective server. And when it does, the stat caps may have been changed.......

Well I'm not really concerned about using the new resources for shipwright. When I liquidated my steel, the winner was a very established WS who bought the steel at the buyout prices 10mins after the auction started.
Actually I'm talking about using the new steels(s) for harvest modules and such. The new resources don't have to be that great (compared to the max potential that has been discussed in our forum) to still belittle some of our current Durralloy steel spawns. Shoot, anything with a combined OQ/CD of 1580 or so would push my server's best steel to second place. That can come in the form of 790 OQ and CD. Those aren't great stats, bet they will be better than what I have. Just think if a 900OQ and a 840CD steel hits your server tomorrow, who will be left holding the bag of depreciated duralloy then?

Well, that's exactly it. It's not really depreciated, unless you payed for it yourself. And even then it's only slightly so. The steel we are currently using isn't bad (well, for some of us). I guess it more breaks down to what the best your server has had is, and the chance that a better steel will come with JTL.
Was just a caution to be careful, not an instruction to not sell.

With the stats on the new JTL steels far surpasing the best Durralloy any server has seen, I have decided to dump by current high OQ/COND steel. I know this is a gamble, but I would rather get the 35-40 cpu i can demand right now from it, than have it plummit in value when a semi-decent spawn of JTL stuff hits. I have kept a small reserve to cover me until a good spawn drops.
I am just stating this as somethng to consider for the near future. It may be too late for some of your servers already, but for those of you who have not experianced a good OQ/CD JTL steel shift, it may be a sound finacial decision. Remember buy low, sell high still applies to SWG.

That's still not bad... some of our components use UT and SR as their exp base. This would come in handy for that.

Your right, I should have stated that this was coming from the assumption that you had to buy your steel. I can see the smaller concern for it if you harvested the resource yourself. Unfortunately for me, that wasn't the case, but it will be next time around
