I've not been playing long about a month or 2 and managed to get 1x11 swordsman, 4xxx artisan and medic xxx4 and managed to stack up about 100k, so i got Artisan Engineer 4 and looked what i could do along side my combat prof. Soafter some discussion with my org we noticed we had no droid engineerso i wasquite excited to get started, but straight away i noticed i was going to need alot of resources to even get novice so i've been checking websites on how to get the initial 29k experiance, and looking at the prices for the amout of resources and i honestly cant see how anyone has managed to get the cash needed to afford that amount resources needed, granted i dont know about harvesters and factories and struggled to find info on them but really how do you do it.

  1. Buy/get Personal mineral harvesters and start mining.

  2. Use some of what you mind to make droids for Droid XP and sell the rest of the resources for money.

  3. Rinse/repeat until you get up into the profession some and you'll be able to start making some money selling droids.

  4. You won't make big/serious money with DE until you get to MDE and it will take a good amount of resource mining/hunting to get you there.

That's about it...in a nutshell.

Are we..."rich"? That depends on how you define that word. If credits are all you're after, you might be disappointed.

I'd like to add to this. You can make your own personal harvesters at Engineering 4. Granted you may not hit BER4, but even a BER3 is good in the beginning. Make some Wind generators, and get yourself some power. Then use that power in Mineral, Chemical, Gas, etc harvesters. Without Heavies the process will be slow, however it's relatively self-sufficient. The only cash that will come from you is to keep those personals going. 5k maintenance lasts several days though so it's not really that bad with personals.

In addition, you said you're in a PA? Let them know your situation, and that you're doing everything you can to go it alone... but if anywould like to contribute to the effort either via creds or resources it would be most helpful and appreciated.

On another note... If you have the skillpoints to do so, master Artisan. A DE is extremely dependant on Master Artisan products, more-so than any other crafting profession. At the very least master it so you can make some small factory runs of what you need before you drop it. Additionally, having Surveying 4 you will find to be a tremendous help while surveying. The increased range is most useful.

As a combatent, you also have the ability to earn money by getting scout resources. If you can squeeze novice scout in, some resources sell for 300 cpu. That will buy a lot of grind resources.

If you want to mine yourself, mine smart. Let's say you can pull up 200k steel in a week. DON'T mine grind steel for yourself. Check out what resources are out there, mine something good or at least decent. Then sell that resource for 4-6 cpu maybe. Then buy your steel at 2 cpu.

By doing this you are effectively getting twice as much resources a week.

Yea im rich. But only after a year and a quarter of playing. And even then its not comparativly rich. Had i done somthing else and spend the time, energy and resources into something else i would have 3 times as much. A master pistoleer barbaricly killing random crap could outdo me, and not had to have another computer with an excel spreadsheet running in order to play.
