Hello all you underappreciated DE's.
I've only recently started to gain an understanding of the fun/utility to be had with droids, and have started to give my local DE quite a little income. I've read these forums and still have a nagging question that I may have missed or misunderstood, I hope someone can help.
I understand that droids equipped with a data module can hold draft schematics (I'm a wep.smith and have ALOT)
I also understand that in terms of space droids (I fly rebel), you cannot use a data module level unless you have qualified for it.
My question is this: If I am only qualified for Level 2 Space/astromech droid module, am i limited to a level 2 data storage module for my draft schematics?
If so, is this new to JTL?
If not, can i have seperate astromech and data storage droids? will that solve the problem?
I would love to have a level 6 data module to store all my schematics, but am afraid to order one if i won't be able to use it.
Guess that is more like 4 questions [/blush], I hope someone will take pity on me and help someone who is finally seeing the light =)
Many thanks,
Grooper

The Level of the Data Pad only comes into play when you are trying to load the droid on to a Rebel ship. You can use any level of Data Storage Module during the ground game. When you go to the Ship management screen, any droid with an Astromech Level higher then you can use will not be available.
My suggestion is to have 1 droid for schematics, and 1 droid for space. This will make it much easier, since you data module will get filled up pretty quickly with Droid command programs.

exactly what i was looking for, Thanks.
Another question: Looking to have a combat droid to run interferance while checking harvesters/factories. should i include an auto-repair module and sacrifice some combat level? What would be a good setup for that type of mission?

I would say it comes down to what do you want.....
Something that
- will take more damage, but is less likely to kill the baddies.
- will kill the baddies a lot faster, but won't take as much damage
- does a bit of both of the above.
The first one is the LE repair droid with 1 combat and 2 auto-repair mods
The Second is the Adv Probot, with all Combat
The third is an Adv R3 with all combat.
Personally, I would go with the Probot. The reason? If the Probot doesn't have the firepower to take out your target, chances are the other two won't stand up to the target for as long as you need it to......

I've experimented with combat droids a bit as my DE has 0 combat ability
I've used a few different R3 models
All combat model is a fairly powerful droid and one that can certainly assist in taking down a med level mob but unfortunatly what I've found is even as a master DE i can only use the repair module ever so slowly and not while mounted sooo it doesnt last overly long
Combat R3 with 4 auto healers: Good tank but has a tendancy to run.../shrug
Combat R3 with 2 auto healers: This is the one I stuck with. When heading into an agro area to check harvesters I stop pull the droid (make sure the battery is full) turn on auto heal and send the little bugger in
with the auto heal power of the droid and a repair d pack that droid will stay as long as I need it. One day it even took out a spawn of low level tuskans
course it took a long time but between me and the droid healing as long as I didnt get agroed I was set
Also a good thing to keep in mind is the astromechs have kinetic and a ranged electric attack alot of things are vuln to electric

Thanks, guys! I had my first go at driod combat yesterday: Had a random spawn of Lesser plains Bols (very weak target) right where I wanted to place my harvesters. Pull out an all-combat probot freshly purchased from my freindly DE, it starts going to town as I tap the buggers to make things go a little faster. Worked fantastically and we managed to clear the lair out of my way
Later had a Vorriter problem and the Probot went down, but I was safe...mission accomplished.
I'm going to try one of those R-3 (2 auto-heal, rest combat), see if it does any better with the harder lairs...I'll let y'all know how it goes!

Try a probot with 3 combat, 2 autorepair... i use that for my harvesting runs, and it works great for me!

Hey! That's the same spec I have. ![]()
Of course I still have Marksman 4004, so I can do a little of my own fighting as well.
