This is getting ridiculous, another patch, another droid bug.

And I really do hate starting out on a negative note...

But...

Monday I took my little R3 fighter, "Sargrunt" out for a spin trying out the new quest that was shown in the "letter" from Ral Mundi in the opening screen.

Sargrunt did great, we ate up the Ragtag Loons outside of Coronet even though my CL is 5 (MA/MDE/MSW doesn't leave much left over for combat). Then we went to the bunker to find Tomi Jinsin. Ate them up, as the ragtags there, and even Tomi, don't fight back AT ALL. But that's beside the point.

The point is, that everything seemed to work fine with Sargrunt: He fought, he suffered health damage, I healed the health damage with a Droid Repair Kit C.

Then along comes the new Publish...

Now not only can I not heal him with the Droid Repair Kit C (it states something to the effect that "The target can not be healed with this item.", but I can't even add power to him, as his radial menu doesn't include "Droid Options" with the Recharge Droid option! The only things that show on his radial menu are the Astromech options, and he doesn't even have a Data Storage Module! 5 Combat Modules and one Auto-Repair Module!

After the message "Low Power" came up, I checked him via datapad, and it said he had 75% battery rating, but of course we know that's been broken for months. But not being able to add Power meant I could only store him. Since he will not regain power via hibernation it looks like the only alternative now is to destroy him and make another, that will last maybe a day's worth of playing. Not bad for the DE market, but I, like most others, would like to have a tool that lasted longer than one day to fight with.

sigh

Another patch, another Droid bug.

Sounds like you crossed a server boundary with the droid called. That will basically kill the droids functions during that call.
If you call it again it should be fine.

Can someone explain this a bit further? I am fairly new and this is the first time I've heard about server boundaries...

Thanks for the explanation Obbo. I am new to MMOs, but not to computers, I am a sysadmin in RL

Interesting that a galaxy is made up of multiple servers.

In an MMO, what we normally call the ‘Server’ is actually a server cluster, a collection of computers that control the world.
In SWG each planet is what is known as a seamless world, which means there are no zones or boundaries between the different computers that control that world (there would be a number of servers handling each planet). So as you travel across the planet, from time to time to cross from one server to the next, although you shouldn’t notice any difference or be aware of it.

When this happens there can be problems in synchronising the data between the server you just left and the one you just joined. This has caused a number of problems in the past; such as if you buy something off a vendor then travel across a server boundary, the item you bought might disappear from your inventory.

In this case, when a droid follows you across a boundary, the droid will lose it’s functions, until it is called again.

Nice theory, but apparently I neglected to state in my original messagethat I stored Sargrunt after fighting the Ragtag Loons outside of Coronet and pulledhim out again AFTER entering the bunker. My bad.

Any more ideas?
