I've recently picked up DE. Searching through the stickies and doing a forum search didn't yeild any answers to my question. However, I haven't noticed many DEs advertising that they were 12 point or not. I was wondering if it made much of a difference on the final product. I also haven't crafted a single droid yet, as i've been playing my combat toon alot recently. Any suggestions or direction to another thread where this was discussed will be most helpful.
Thank you in advance.

It's nice to have those extra points of experimentation on some of the modules and droid chassis's. But to be honest, most people don't seem to use what I would consider the more useful modules because there have always been bugs. Even though I guess now they're saying the bugs are worked out.
It's nice if you're a serious DE, but not a necessity. Although if droids ever become important, then I'm sure it'll be very handy.

If you have the credits to waste and have a good stock of decent resources with good stats, then putting together a +2 suit has its benefits.
Personally, I would work on putting together a stock pile of resources and building up a padded bank account, before even taking the DE SEAs into consideration. The list of items that actually benefit from 2 additional Experimentation points is limited too -
- Droid Repair Kits and Subs
- Droids can be healed using Medic Skills, so their sales are mediocre
- Droid Reconstruction Kits and Subs
- DE usable only for Droid Wounds, which no longer exist.
- The one use that Recon A Kit have does not require experimentation (Talilor component for DE toolkit)
- Stimpack DispensorModules
- Can only be loaded with StimAs, which most people don't find very useful
- Interplanetary Survey Droids
- Another item that is of limited semi-usefulness in the customers eye.
That is a total of 12 schematics that a DE can craft (8 of which are redundant schematics). All of which are limited in scoop.

DE tapes are not terribly expensive so I would say yes it is. If your going to be a Master then be a MASTER!

I guess I've not figured out the way the tapes work cos so far Ive lost the 3 tapes I bought totally nearly 2mil (nothing to worry about with my cushioned bank roll). The first time I mistakenly put the tape on an item that already had it so it ignored it but the 2nd two I used also had combat items on them and for some reason the game took the combat stuff and ignored the droid stuff. For a non combat character this kinda peeved me off but oh well. Guess Ill have to buy and store up and set up a new outfit for tapes and do it carefully.

Even though the DE skill mods are a bit on the useless side, they may be useful in the future. This game changes of a daily basis. I recommend getting the tapes now (especially the +20 and up tapes) while they are cheap, just in case.

i'm not exactly sure how in depth i'll get into DE, as my combat toon that i'm focusing on mainly is my jedi. My crafter is there to give me another way to make a small income. Call it demented, butI hope to supply the BH with droids to track me down. Thanks for the answers, as this will probably save me some change.

Heck, if you can profit from the BH's coming after you, then all the better. Even if it is a bit masochistic.

Ummmm......
I though being a masochist was part of the requirements to be a Master DE for longer then 3 months.
