Just read the astromech stats from the Dev tracker. And I couldnt be more proud to be a day 1 master droid engineer. =)

How I feel after a few publishes is wonderful. A part of me wishes I were the only DE on my server. Oh, wait. I think I am. No, not really. Just feels that way.


Here's the silver lining: not many DEs = no much competition = bigger profit.


And I admonish you: Don't be afraid to charge for your Droids! If you're getting less than 100K for lvl 30 combat droids, something is wrong!

Yep me too .. and it seems to me Im the only DE around but I know of 3 that float on the forums so I guess the few of us around have managed to place our businesses on different planets


Not been well today but had a sale to complete so logged in for an hour to do it.


I have been making 36 power detonation droids in MSE Advanced chassis. But this guy wanted 56 power ones. Gave him a rough estimate figuring that maybe 3 or 4 modules instead of 2 would give me the required values .. yikes nope .. had to use 6 in an R3 Advanced. Revised my original estimate to nearly double . I was surprised when he said he still planned to have them and the new price was fine .. so after an hour from logging in logged out almost 800k richer... for a bottom 5 profession I've managed to stay above 10mil credits over the last year or so. And shes the one that ends up tipping my other toons cos theyre poor

Me too!

I had a tough decision to make yesterday... drive almost 9000m on Dath for a bounty target (that would probably drop smuggler loot) or log out and make some components.

No contest really. Advanced Motive Systems, Droid Brains and Sensor Packages > Illegal Core Boosters and foraged bugs

My alt is DE/SW and yeah I really enjoy being a DE and can't wait until our products are actually widely used - sometimes this profession pains me

Well, if DE pains you now... you should have been there at the start. The 2 and 1/2 publishes so far that focused heavily on Droids really boosted our profession and those of us who stuck with it finally profitted enough to stay in steady business. (and all we really want is to keep making droids.)


With each of those revamps, I saw the number of Droid vendors doubleor tripleon my own homeworld, and then slowly dwindle back down to just us hardcore DEs. (to where it is now...near the bottom of the AstroStats). But that's okay. DE is not meant for everyone.


With the next revamp, we will see it all over again - credit-hungry players "flocking" to DE, hoping to stuff their bank accounts... then they will go away again, and all will be be back to "normal".

Yoda has it right though. It's been painfull. We got some good love with the revamps, but over time, just about every single one of those modules was nerfed into uselessness. Then we look at JTL, it had such potential. All we got was a bunch of cheap stuff that takes no quality to make, so the profit margin is low. Plus when it first launched, a ton of people ground to DE to crank out tons of items.


ROTW did nothin for DE's except rub in our faces the cybor arms.


Hopefully some day the pain will be worth it. Yet we persevere for we are DE's!

Im still on the slow grind ( 2/3/4/4) as I spend too much time loot hunting with my mbh. But I LOVE DE, one of the coolest things in star wars for me was the droids. I once filled a guild hall with a hundred droids of all different sorts. Wonderful fun . I dont grind Adv droid frames, but I am slowing the grind down using factories for many of the subs.


I dont find it that unprofitable a job I find basic pet R2 units sell like hot cakes on the bazaa's and more advanced droids sell well on the vendors. No where near as profitable as architect furniture or Bounty hunting ( I make more money in a day with my BH than I do in a fortnight with my DE working flat out. But then I dont have to buy ADK's and weapons and armour. Ive got a nice quite location with a nice pond outiside 600m from a star port and I empty my harvesters without seeing aggros for weeks on end, an Artisans bliss


I am also architect and grinding shipwright fast, but DE is where my heart is, I dont care if they dont pile on the riches, I just love Droids


By the way whats the 3 least played professions?
