Thread: Survey droid?? What the heck are these . . .

I've heard pieces of information about a survey droid that I could use to inventory the current shift on a planet.The lazy surveyor's dream product!What exactly is this item, if it exists, and where might I purchase 3?

Survey droids are crated (usually) limited-use droids. Each time you send a survey droid out, you are required to put into it a survey tool of the type you are wishing to locate. (ie - mineral, chemical, etc). These tools are not returned to you.
A 10-use droid (example) can be sent out 10 times before it "expires". Depending on how it was made (experimented), it can return results back to you (via-email) anywhere from 15 to 50 minutes (any DE'sknow the quickest return time so far?...)
The email will tell you what resources are located on the particular planet you sent the droid to.

Any DE with the right skills can craft them for you.

these may be one of the most worthless droids that we can make... not only does it take forever to get the list back... but it consumes a survey tool and does not provide any information on where that resource might be

Yep, it only returns the name and class of the resources. No stats or concentrations. This is one thing I am really hoping the Devs buff for us. I'd gladly accept a tripling of the resource requirements to get back stats.

Yep, most people won't use one, however there are those that still do. I was selling 1-2 a day for awhile. I even set up a "resource droid kit", it was enough droid charges and mineral survey tools to do every planet twice, dropped it all in a backpack and sold the hound out of them. I made 3 times the profit selling the kits as apposed to just the droids. I'm currently in a lull of sellingonly 1-2 a week.

They really need to get rid of the survey tool requirement. That would be a great first step.

yes, a totally worthless droid as traveling to any starport on a planet and opening the survey tool willgive you the same thing as the survey droid... only MUCH faster. This might have been useful back in the day of 10 minute shuttle timers, but now it is a joke
