I just started DE and got my house now I have a problem, I want to show off my droids but I can't figure out how to place them in my home for display. Can anyone help a newbie with this simple problem?

If you just started DE, you probably can't make them yet. The droids you see in houses are actually the "chassis" part of the more advanced droids. Look in the blueprint line and you will see the chassis types available.

I don't know for sure that is IS stickied or in the faq so I'll give you the benefit of said doubt.

Make chassis of the droids you want to display and drop them instead of the deed. SOE had its head WAY up somewhere warm and squishy when it made the decision to make droids be generic deeds rather than have droid grapgics, a la CH pets.
