I doubt I'm the only one who thinks that the Devs missed the point when they gave the DE profession a couple extra combat droids and said "there's that functionality you've been asking for." Droids need to be doing a lot more than just fighting for us to make this feel like star wars. They need everyday utilitarian functionality in order to feel like starwars, and in order to provide DEs with any kind of decent market for their product.

So give us your ideas for making droids more functional in every-day game play. One I thought of involves the MSE messenger droids. With as extensive of a chat system as SW:G has, there's no need for a messenger droid, exactly, but I've thought of another use for it: as a delivery droid.

The MSE would basically operate on charges just like the bounty hunter droids. It would be given a small storage compartment (say, 5 items or less). Then with a chat or "/" command it would deliver the contents of the storage compartment to anybody in the galaxy (presuming they're online). The MSE would become the FedEx of the galaxy (ImpEx?).

Does anybody else have some ideas on how to impliment functional droids? Post your ideas here, and maybe we'll get droids worth having if not with publish 7, then soon after.
