Ok, so are we actually going to get new combat droids to make? i.e. Droidekas/IG droids?

Or are we just getting a module that gives the exsisting lineup of droids combat features? If this is so, then this is WAY stupid. The only droid that even remotely acts in the SW universe as a combat droid in our current lineup is the probot, and that isn't even really a combat droid.

So, have the devs said anything about new droids themselves? I don't see it in the list for publish 7. I just see combat droid module. God, this is going to be stupid if we are all running around with R2 units that can fight. Someone give me some insight here.

What is more rediculous is that if it is the case that they aren't adding any new droids, that that is really lazy on the devs part, seeing as to the fact that Droidekas and IG droids are already in the game, all they would have to do is create a schematic for them to be used for production by we DE's.

someone put my fears to rest that this patch isn't going to be rediculous.

thanks

We don't have a clue if any new chssis are going in or not. There hasn't been any word about it yet. All I know is they screwed up with one of the test center patches and said something like "Fixed astormech so it would fire in combat" or some such.

I agree 100% on the R series being left out of the combat droids. I can see 3PO's and the other humanoid droids lugging guns around (like when 3PO had his head pulled off and put on a Trade Fed Droid body). Even the BLL would make a cool looking melee combat droid, but the R2 will look plainstupid shooting a blaster.

At first the idea of a combat astromech does seem strange, but on a second thought it's not so bad, even a little neat. Astos have their little laser zapper for ranged fighting and the extender claw for melee. Up to CL10 is fine for this, as one can picture an R2 fighing off a small creature, but definately running away from anything else larger.
