Well, I have been reading the forums over the last few weeks. This publish is coming out. There seem to be some good things and some bad things.

I just hope that Publish 8 will have a few new chassis.

Can't wait for the Roger-Roger droids...

No new chassis have been announced for Publish 8.

Well, the ad is a bit misleading...but, it shows the player attacking the droids. There is not any apparent player controlling those droids.

I would say generally yes, it is a misleading ad. But, technically, it is just what the game will be: You as the player with an R4 attacking a group of Aggro NPC Droids.

why show them then???

I consider this a great game and i love being a droid engineer (in the same way i like wearing a tshirt, jeans and sneakers to work next to saville row where they tailor-make rilly expensive suits) but it seems really naughty to put those droids on the wallpaper and announce it as the latest, greatest thing on the home page and then point and laugh at us while all our customers ask "so where are the rogerroger droids then?" and "so what exactly do these stupid things do?".

That's just not smart - especially since (as you've stated in another post, tk) the de boards are some of the most vocally negative in the game. Surely it would make more sense to look at the wallpaper (which is to advertise the publish, after all), however cool( i love it :tongue and ask themselves "is this an honest interpretation of the publish?" rather than "does this make the publish look cooler than it actually is?"

You've hit a pretty sore spot already. I'm sure if everyone wasn't already bruised to the bone this one would have caused an even greater outcry.

why should they.....

they shouldnt... they want more people to join the game... hence: why the made the forums member only, why the wallparer was made the way it was... to make you think there are great droids in the game you can control.... its pure marketing strategy...

if they let the consumer into these forums- NO ONE would have bought this game! (of course... I bought it the week of release back when there was still much hope)

What this is is bait and switch - show you something to get you to want the game and then say 'oh sorry don't have that but here's this...' and it is an illegal pratice in most countries.

This is not a viable marketing strategy
