First off i love droids. I wish they were more usefull...Droids make this game feal more like star wars about as much as blasters. With my build a good tank would come in handy. Im a master carbineer and master doctor. What does the new patch add for droids to make them take more damage. I hear you can give them bigger hams. Im not expecting the 3k hams like the pre nerf ones way back...but better than the 800 or so we got now heh. So what type of droid (im assumeing probot) can have the best defence armor and resistance, how high can it get and how big are their hams? I dont care about how much damage they can do...i like to do that myself : )
Do they finaly have heavy armor? Can we get them some real resist? 40% isent to bad but wen you only got med armor and 800 hams it dosent take much to take them out. Considering you cant heal them like a pet it makes them usefull only at low levels. Even a lvl 10 be made pet can still have 2k hams easy and with stims that goes way past med armor a probot can have for over all usefullness. The way it is now i only use droids for storage and the medic module.../sigh
Ok, I'll save you the effort of putting on your asbestos suit, and instead post the following which a number of us have posted to our Galaxy forums in order to help people like you understand what is happening:
Oh, and the HAM on a probot is going up...to around 1000 ish ![]()
The following is a public service announcement originally written by Virtanis, a fellow Master Droid Engineer on the Corbantis server. However, it is important information for droid owners and enthusiasts on all servers, so I'm cross-posting it here for all of you.
Based on information coming from DE's on Test Center, the previous DE Correspondent (Drashk) and the current DE Correspondent (TheRealTK421), please listen to the following announcement:
SOE has made a major adjustment to the armor ratings of Droids scheduled to be released for P7. Previously, Armor6 modules (the best armor module, an MDE made component) would give a droid Medium Armor and 40% resists across the board. SOE has significantly reduced this rating. It's new level will be NO armor, 20% resists across the board. In addition, this change is retroactive to ALL droids of all types and models: even those in deed form and those already in your datapad.
I repeat: this is a retroactive change to all droid armor ratings.
[Virtanis]sent a PM to TheRealTK421 today asking for clarification and confirmation of this, here is his response:
Will the armor nerf be retroactive and apply to already tamed probots?
Yes.
Will the armor nerf be retroactive and apply to probots in deed form (but not tamed)?
Yes.
Will the armor nerf be retroactive and apply to already made Armor6 modules not used yet in a droid?
I haven't tested this yet...but I suspect that it will.
It is probable that CL10 droids are being "equalized" to other CL10 pets, but no new information regarding greater than CL10 droids has been given to us by SOE. There are other changes in store for droids, like increased HAM and damage, but thenerfing of the droid armor is pretty severe. I will say that, unless some drastic change happens between now and Tuesday, or the information given to our correspondent is in error, this is being released to the live servers.
I felt it's my duty to inform the people of Chimaera, my friends, my guildies, and all my current and previous customers of this change. I will also say that the DE community did not request this change, but this was made by SOE alone.
I would like to further ask that people ignore the new "Droid Invasion" wallpaper that SOE has made available. The only droid in that picture that Droid Engineers can make is the R4 that is running for its life in the foreground. We CAN NOT make any of the combat droids in the background, so please don't ask. Droid Engineers are very upset about this patch as it is, and bugging us about things we wish we could do only makes us more grumpy than usual.
Thank you for your time, I hope this PSA is useful. I wish I didn't have to post it.
I apologise for SOE's behaviour in this.
Best Wishes

Man that realy sucks...I heard about the armor nerf though. If my droid gets bigger hams and lasts longer though i can live with it. I read a couple places people saying the new droids can have 20% resist to all and 2200 hams? That seems about the same as the 800 ham med armor...a little weaker though.
Well i heard rumors about being aloud to have a droid and a pet out at once? Is that true at all....Sorry for the newbie questions heh i know i get sick of em in the doc forums lol. But i realy do love droids. Even have one of the pre nef ones with the 3k hams hehe...
Another question about the repair kits. Wen you repair a weapon or armor you have a chance to fail and make the gun useless. I would hate to fail fixing a droid...expectialy if i had stuff in its storage bins if failing made it useless. If thats the case ill just have to keep looking for people with repair modules on dorids to fix mine for me wile i do the same for them. But considering droids at the current state are not good for much once your advanced other than sotrage crafting stations and medical modules they dont realy need fixing to much heh.
I guess my ideal droid would be a great tank droid with a medic module and storage for 10 (or more i can only wish). I plan on keeping it on follow to me for the medic module to be used. Id only send it into battle if things start to look bad...No level 10 pet can tank the kind of mobs i hunt long enough to be more than a distraction so im not even expecting that. But id like it to be a good blocker to toss out in a pinch maby giving me time to get away heal up eat some food and finish it off before my droid explodes.
And to anyone thats ben a DE sence launch...../deepbow you have my utmost respect for your dedication.
Wow if they work like pet stims thats great!! finaly i can keep using the droid for more than a fight or two lol. The name having repair kit in it seems to be misleading. Maby Droid Booster kit or sompthing.
What i want is a droid with as much def as possable. Damage means nothing to me but id have that maxed out just because i like the best. I would like the droid to have a lvl 6 storage module (10 items) and a 110% medic module. I know probots fit (or use to) this because they had 2 armor slots and 2 mod slots.
Wich droid would be best for me? All i care about are those 2 mods and as much hams and def as possable. Everything els is just icing on the cake. Even if its a load lifter heh
At least im not asking you how to name my droid :0)

Actually, I'm glad this happened. This allows a single thread to be pointed to for typical conversations.
What you probably want for a tank is a LE Repair droid. HAM will probably vary from DE to DE per server, but you can expect it to be around 2200. Armor, as others have phrased it, has been "nerfed." What we see on TestCenter right now is a cap of 40% resists(AR0), but we have inside info that this is possibly a bug and will be lowered to 20%(AR0). The only noticable problem I've seen with the LE Repair, is that it's REALLY slow.
Where does this leave the probot? Well, it's going to become a big damage dealer. We're looking at approx 200+ DPS give or take. Which is much better than the current probots ( about 4x ).
Where does this leave the R-series? Middle ground between damage and HAM.
As one who has maxed out all of his combat exp and weapons exp, I'd choose the probot out of all ofthese.

i agree that th LE will likely be the best tank, but what about Adv R3s. You seem to have overlooking the fact that they will be able to hold the most combat modules. That being said they SHOULD do the most damage. But given the state ofnerfs...oh i mean....improvements in this game, the damage rating will likely get capped to the level of the probot.
You would think this would occur, however after a couple discussions with Drashk on this there seems to be some sort of "bonus" if you will to the existing combat droids (read: DZ70 and probot) that raises their damage output.
A guild DE new to the profession mentioned the adv R3 droid also...kinda surprised me. But that would be a lot faster than a LE. I said def is all i cared about but speed has to be somewhat resonable. Im not a scout though so it wouldent have to be super fast or anything. I know you would need 6 combat componets in a droid to max its damage etc. But what does it take to max its def? The adv R3 with a storage lvl 6 (10 items) and a 110% medic module made for all out def would have 20% resist to all (depending on how they do it anyway). But what would the hams look like? Can a LE droid have both the storage and medic module with the 20% resist on it? And how much of a cut in hams would i be taking for speed going with the R3 droid. I know resorces and servers matter a great deal so im only looking for ballpark numbers here : ) And do both these droids beat out probots for def and hams? 200dps does sound nice though they might actualy kill sompthing hehe.
Im prety surprised that a probot doesent have the highest hams and def though...that seems very wrong to me. I like those droids the way they float around hehe. And having an R3 kick the crap out of a probot is laughable imo but ahh well. Someday it will get better and droids are just cool..even if they are only so usefull ill alwase have 5 of em :0)
