Thread: Surgical Droid nerf, helpful to game balance?

For one thing, they already have scout skills as a requirement, so a camp isn't that big of a deal. And secondly, even with the time restraints on calling creatures, they can swap their creatures in and out during battle. That doesn't make sense to me.

One argument that I have is that I should not have to spend Skill Points to extract my droid or vehicle from my datapad. It is pointless. The only reason I have scout is so I can build a camp to get my droid or vehicle. For CH, I think they should be required to have a camp. For one thing, they already have scout skills as a requirement, so a camp isn't that big of a deal. And secondly, even with the time restraints on calling creatures, they can swap their creatures in and out during battle.****How do you figure? YOU CAN NOT SWAP PETSIN A BATTLE, NO WAY, IMPOSSIBLE. IF YOU ARE IN COMBAT OR AGGROED YOUCAN NOT CALL A PET, PERIOD.YOU CAN NOT STORE A PET TILL 60 SECONDS AFTER BATTLEIS OVER! PLEASE VERIFY YOUR INFORMATION BEFORE YOU POST!That doesn't make sense to me. I only say this because prior to this, you could not set a camp up when you were engaged in combat. This will remove that restriction. Was this intended or was this just a side effect?
My .02 credits.
CH should not need a camp or timer to call a pet, we have calling restrictions in place now that makes camps/timers obsolete.
I think the problem with camps is the world is getting too small. Before there were mounts, be they vehicles or pets, you really needed a camp for heals and to pull pets, because who wants to run all the way back to town in between missions to heal or pull pets. Now you can go from one end of the planet to the other in less than 15 minutes on a swoop, never get killed and you really dont need a camp. Add to that all of the player cities everywhere and camps become even more obsolete. I posted on the ranger forums a while back camps have to bring something added to the field mentaility, like combat bonuses, or healing bonuses, to be in a sense Field base camps that hunters or fighters can operate from. They could be targetable by opposing factions or defendable against creatures. Aside from DE camps are really the most tragic part of the game. What I think would be cool if a droid deed or specialized chassis was used in crafting advanced camps for rangers, so that DEs could craft a combat droid giving small bonuses in an area of effect for the group, medical droids for healing, entertainer droids for BF and mind healing, and some type of scout droid to increase terrain negotiation for the group or group harvesting. These could either be droids or DE crafted components. When the camp appears you see a little droid sitting there in camp doing stuff much like Protocol chassis are used in shuttleport crafting. Now chassis would increase the overall cost of the camp, but make really advanced camps reusable, decayable, and only available to high level rangers.
Now as far as calling pets, droids, and vehicles anywhere...well it removes the need for camps, but I am pretty sick of checking harvesters or surveying just to watch my vehicle poof for no reason.

I know it sucks to here the word nerf in the DE forum, but I'd like some constructive feedback from you guys on this.

Kindly do not call 'nerf' on other professions,,,ESPECIALLY not this one, we have enough of our own thankyou.
Try instead to better your camps, use some imagination, get them redesigned...do something constructive and not try to be destructive to we who are already in great pain.
I just don't understand some people, and you came here wanting constructive feedback? I'm sorry but we are using all our constructiveness trying to prevent the 'Great Armour Nerf 2004 (tm)' , and trying to make DE fun and viable as a profession.
Thankyou, now go and be constructive on your own boards please.

It has been pointed out time and again, and most recently by the Doctor and Medic Correspondents in the Doctor forum, that all structures (including camps) override droids. IOW, abasic campsite, rated at 65%, will bring your Medical Droid's rating down to 65% of its healing/buffing abilities.
The best thing to do has been to call out the Medical Droid in the campsite, then move out and away from the campsite at least far enough that it says you have left it, and then do the healing and/or buffing, in order to utilize the full medical rating of your medical droid.
My alt avatar is a Master Doctor/Master Combat Medic, and I've gotten better buffs by moving away from the campsites than I ever got inside one.
I'd consider this a flaw in game design. I don't believe it was intended for structures to override the droids med rating. However, this wasn't the point of my post either.
I'm saying if the Rangers/Scouts feel like they're being nerfed, then why bring DE (and one of our 3 saleable items) down with them? Come up with new, beneficial uses for camps. Instead of focusing their energies looking for a nerf, look for positive things that camps could be used for, other than simply healing wounds.
