Hey, all you DE's out there! Or in here......or whatever....

At any rate, I started this thread for all you frustrated DE's after this "Droid Invasion" (notice the quotation marks and italics for extra sarcastic emphasis) to vent your anger. I'm not a DE, never have been, but I've been playing this game since launch and I find that everytime SOE hypes up something, it always, always, falls short. And by short, I mean like a groundball at a home run derby.

Now, I feel for you guys. I mean, the new combat modules might be the biggest joke I've ever seen. Seeing an R3 unit roll up to a Trandoshan and try to kill it, causes much laughter from this side of the keyboard. And the really sad thing is, no one wants to have an astromech droid fight for them (notice the italics around astromech, as in, my futile attempt to remind SOE that R-unit droids typically serve as co-pilots, mechanics, and navigators).

So, if you're a Droid Engy, and you're finding yourself seriously disappointed, post here. Let it all fly out! You might as well! Because if this keeps up, many of SOE's customers will be tuning in to Sideshow Bob as opposed to tuning in to this mildly amusing piece of software they call Star Wars.

As much disappointed as is floating about (and, yes everyone, I'm feeling it too...and I have to do the Corr. thing too. )...

Ranting doesn't help things.

What will help me to help YOU is real, hard data on what is or is not working correctly.

Please try to help me in the best way by posting real, factual evidence of bugs, issues or problems.

I'm pretty sure that they will want to iron out whatever they can ASAP. So, start making those reports that will help me to get our issues addressed. Wading through 100s of rants and flames only makes it harder for me...and makes it take longer.

Thanks in advance all...

Droid tests so far:

I had heard the LE droids got guns... they don't.

My R3 has proven able to handle groups of lower end mobs like cusk cats as long as I'm using Repair Kit C's. The damage they dish out is decent and they absorb a good amount of damage. As far as "pets" go, I've never used them, but the fights seemed to be taking extremely long.

One bug I noticed was that my R3 was VERY reluctant to use it's lighting zapper. Of the 3 times I told it to attack (when it hadn't been auto-attacked) 2 times it ran 40m in to fight with it's buzz saw. Only once did it kill something with it's zapper, and that was the FIRST time I told it to attack after making it.

My Probot (545 is the best I've been able to get Combat rating wise ) Does a significant amount more damage and at a much faster pace. Their HAM is much lower and they're harder to keep healed.

One bug I noticed, once something got in close my droid was doing damage but no sounds/graphics were played. For a short time I thought he wasn't attacking.

LE droids attack is melee only so far as I've seen. The only test I did was jokingly sending it at a Master Rifleman friend of mine... it went down in one hit. (and it h ad a significant amount of HAM)

Repair kits seem to be working fine, although the charges are a bit limited without advanced resources and we go through them too fast beacuse of the armor and low HAM our droids have.

Overall:

Useless.

Sorry, but for all I've done, they aren't worth the work. I can't let it take blows long enough to get stuff put/running in a factory or harvestor. it takes constant babysitting against mobs I was killing easily at a level3 skill box (unbuffed with no armor and low end weapons)

CL10 is so pathetic I'm still trying to figure out what it's real purpose is.

Lastly:

THERE ARE NO NEW DROIDS! YES I KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. (this goes out to all those players who assume Droid Invasion means I can make something cool.)

ps. I hate that stupid wallpaper. Very much. Can we petition to get the name of the file to "misleading.jpg"

As a Master DE i have been really disappointed with the Dorid invasion. From reading the Test Centre reports I was expecting the worst and we got it. I made a 6 module combat drop - fairly high exp ratings 60-70% and it died with a bout 4 spineflaps (the little ones). Now to fair it does do things like R2 does in the films, and I personally believe that that should be all the combat that they do. What is the problem is the way it has been promoted. I had to turn of my MDE logo because of all the tells expecting new models and good combat droids. Basically all this has done is given droids the abilities they should have had anyway - but there not "combat" droids.

As far I can see our droids should do "Different" things than combat. They should translate ( have NPC missions where a Protocol droid is needed i.e. Jabbas missions )They should help repair things (we have a repair droid that dosent work), perhaps they could help manage harvesters; the list is endless. I think the new classes in pub 8 are the right direction. Perhaps we can make Nav droids when the Space exp comes in.They are not really any combat droids in EPIII-IV except bounty hunter stuff.

All that has happened is that we have been made a joke of yet again.

It was a badly worded and badly executed publish that has been misleading.
