Hello everybody,

As many of you know, I have been one of SWG's biggest advocates. I always tried to talk positive about the game. I tried to recruit new people. I tried to get the WOW people back. I tried to improve the DE profession as much as anybody.

These newest changes have totally destroyed my faith in the developers and the future of SWG.

SWG has problems we know it does. The GCW and other things could use a lot of work. Combat and the classes were not broken, they didn't need to revamp all of them. The fact that they spent all the time coding these changes that weren't needed instead of fixing what was broken.

Then when I look at how they launched the TOOW expansion without telling anybody about these changes, it really pisses me off. It shows that they don't care about us or the game, just the money.

They are destroying what made SWG different, adding classes, killing crafting and the economy, and many other things. It just doesn't make any sense. It's all done just to try and draw the console crowd. It's all about the money. I have little faith that there is room in a console game for an in depth crafting system.

So what does this mean for me? It certainly means that I no longer want to be paying for 5 accounts. It also means that I am going to start looking more towards the future in a game that appears to care about it's players. So I am finally giving in tomy friends in WOW and am going to try it out.

Now this doesn't mean I am abandoning the game. My accounts still have some time on them, and I'll be keeping the Straker account and Wench still around. Havana and Eni will keep buffing as long as they can, they probably wont be able to buffbot after the NGE changes anyway. It does mean that after my current stock gets sold, my droid vendors will be coming down. I am sorry Vevy. I just don't have the heart anymore. The good news is that with the changes coming, any weaponsmith can make droids. Yet another thorn in my side.

My DE account will still be active, so I'll still be here. However, I strongly suspect I'll be on these forums a lot less and will be on other forums. Even though I never played with many of you, I feel that I have actual friends from the DE boards. I will miss dealing with you all the time. However, PM me and we can keep in touch.

If I am totally wrong about these changes and Droids get uber, by all means shoot me a PM and let me know.

Jenden, I was always glad you got the Job, but always regreted that I didn't. If you know what I mean. However that isn't true anymore. I'm glad you got it, I know you are doing your best, but it probably would have driven me crazy.

I'll miss all of you, I'm not going to list names, because I know I will forget people. You all know who I mean though.

Wow saying goodby here was harder then my Server forums.

Thanks for all of the "indirect" help you've given during my time as a DE Straker- its been very much appreciated by myself.

I'm hedging the same way - my accounts are paid until February, but we'll see what happens after that.. maybe I'll turn My DE/Dancer into a Jedi as it'll be the only way I get to hold a glowstick

I'm sorry to hear that, buddy. I can't say I blame ya. You were a frequent poster like Jenden, Drashk and TK. I always thought you would be next in line to get the DE Correspondent position after Jenden was done with it. Now it looks like Jenden will be the last one.

Anyway, thanks for all your input over the years, helping make this profession the best it could be.

I wish I could pop you in the shoulder and try and cheer you up, but I fear I may be behind you shortly. ONly reason why I havent yet mad eup my mind is because the Devs wont answer any *real* questions, and they avoid even more the questions about crafting. As usual, we are ignored. I wont bother with Wow though. I already know enough about their "crafting" system to know its not for me. So it looks like I may pop back in Tale in the Desert, or Eve... until Star Trek comes out. But I am still hoping I am able to stay in SWG. We'll see.

Thanks for all your time and effort, and for being a real community leader. I am sure you will be welcomed with open arms at Wow.

Well, just wanted to let you know, I've always appreciated your posts here. Even when I left after the CU, I kept reading this forum - it's home. So I know what you mean when you say that saying goodbye here is harder than your galaxy forums.

Your posts always made me think - and I appreciated them. Your posts tended to exemplify the tone here in DE land - thoughtful, grammatically correct, and in-depth. Along with TK, Jenden, Drashk - you tended to be one that I paid attention to when reading in here.

You guys kept me interested in the game through these last six months - to the degree I actually paid just to check out the NGE. I paid because I hoped - hoped that it might be a good thing. Hoped I might be able to go back and start making droids like I used to do. Hoped that the game would be revived.

But, that isn't going to happen. I think we all realize that now.

So, here's a toast for you all;

Here's to the profession, here's to our friends and colleagues. Here's to the ones we made here, and the ones we made from steel. Here's to our first droid we secretly kept in our pad, and our last we just set carefully on a stand. Here's to our shared dreams - we all had'em growing up. It was so close, so here's to "almost".

And a drink to the years ahead - I hope we'll get another chance some day.

I can't say thank you enough for all of your helpin the months since I started thinking about this profession.

Six months ago I decided I wanted to begin crafting, and decided that I would take it slowly, choosing and learning as I went. I looked at them all, architectureto weapons. I finally chose droids because they were the most fun and interesting to me, and my favorite character has always been R2-D2.

When I finished my main character's profession andstarted my second account there were a few voices that I knew I could trust, Straker's, Jenden's and Drashk's.

You helped me immensely, without even even knowing I was here, by answering and responding, pushing for the improvement of the game and bringing intelligence to an already stimulating profession.

Thank you for that and I wish you the best of luck.

Thank you for the kind words, I will certainly miss all of you. I'll still lurk though, just may not post here.

I agree, I always thought I would be one of the last people to quit. I have never been a casual gamer, I probably commit to much, maybe more then a tad on the obsessive-compulsive side. So I took SWG very seriously, I didn't look at only the now, since SWG was "my" game, I looked towards the future.

It's not so much that the new system isn't fun, it may be fun, it may not. Right now, I just don't care. My feeling is that SWG has always looked at the game with a money view of "let's attract these people." Looking at games with millions of sunscribers and such wanting to pull them in. This was always done with little regard to current players. They never seemed to understand that a fanatical veteran player base was their best way to pulling people in. Keep the current players happy and they will bring the people.

I could be wrong, maybe it's not about the money, but that's how I feel. I know businesses need money, but I can't (wont) play a game in which that is the driving factor. The game and the players need to matter. Unfortunatly the only way I can really make my point heard is by pulling my $100 a month they were getting from me.

*speechless*

You were one of the last people I thought would leave. But I guess after all the anti crafting *updates* it would get on anyones wick. I'm just plain stubborn. I enjoy making droids, even if I give them away to guildees I'll be happy

It may no longer be a good business simulation but its the best I can do while playing the game with my friends. We're looking forward to LotR but thats still months away. I've tried Eve but thats too long winded for my tastes. I'm playing Starpeace again which was my first online gamewith alot of business simulation in it but after playing this its just not the same. It's very hard to find a game that caters to my business enjoyment and his fighting enjoyment.

I hope you enjoy WoW as much as you enjoyed this .. and maybe more. Hopefully when all but a handful of the crafting players are gone and they realise how many players played because they had the ability to make a difference, maybe they will then start actually working on improving our roles.

I feel the need to say somethign here... (those of you that know me, know I don't

Recently, I've been very close to the cancel button. I have not enjoyedbeingpractically escorted through quests on Mustafar by Jedi friends just because I have a unique CL80 template and I'm not a Jedi. I don't like how my role among my friends is now deminished with the NGE (my role, has always been about half materials aquisition / combat ). With supplies now being directly proportional to combat, my role has disapeared because I am notthe most efficientcombatant. Part of it is that I'm not sure I have the time I used to invest in it. I don't have the time to "camp spawns" and it frustrates me that the game is moving in that direction when the entire original design was based on not needing to do that.

What I see in front of me is being stripped of all of the things I can do well, and being mediocre at the stuff I do with my friends. All of my abilities are done better and more efficiently by everyone else. The current game is now designed around "a Jedi and his/her alt." Even in the new system, such is true (only this time, <one who had a Jedi> and their alt.) I feel more and more like a second class citizen even moreso than after the first CU.
