Well, I've been grinding ...er...sorry.... playing a Trader on TC5 for several days now, and here's what I can tell you as far as Droid Engineers are concerned:
The NGE's supposed "simplification" of the game has made all crafting professions even HARDER than before, including DE!
Figures.
First, You can no longer pick and choose the order of skill boxes you want to train, as training has been completely removed from the game. Now you HAVE to grind through whatever skill box they decide is next in their little "skill ring".
Clearly the DEVs of these skill rings have never actually played a crafter in SWG before, as their choice for ordering them is insane. All DE's will agree that Advanced Droid Frames were a very handy "grinding" item for resources-to-XP value. In the current configuration, a DE has to grind through 4 "skill rings" to master, and Adv Frames comes a full 2 and 3/4 into those rings. Basically, in the last third of the profession skill boxes.
The skill boxes are organized purely arbitrarily by level from left to right (from the old skill tree pattern). No thought actually put into this.
Second, a DE now MUST grind through several levels of Weapons just to get to the final DE skill boxes. There is no way around this. The professions have beencombined to prevent it. This "simplification" simply means you HAVE to master two elite crafting professions, just to master the one you want.
Thank goodness the Master Artisan skill box is contained in the DE "rings", or an MDE would further be screwed even after all that EXTRANEOUS crafting being FORCED upon us.
As of this writing, I have only leveled 2 1/4 "rings", and am rapidly losing interest, as the next EIGHT skill boxes I MUST get are related to Weapons and Merchant only. No droids for 8 more boxes!!!!????
As far as I can tell, all past Droid related components and modules are still in the game, although I expect to see them altered. No more need for a Harvest droid (I think), and who knows what else has been made "obsolete" by this "improved" SWG.
Thats all for now. Good luck to all of us, and our Plastic Pals!
