I give up on squad leader. I really really like the concept, but as a casual gammer there is NO WAY that i can get master squad leader anytime soon. Not to mention, the skills suck for the price that it takes to get them. I meanhonestly. How does aCH get away with 75000 skillpoints in the first tier while SL's are stuck with 175000!!! GOOD GOD!!

Huh? You're a casual gamer, but want to reach Master right away? I always thought a casual gamer would be someone who played one maybe two hours a day, and didn't care much about his/her skills. They just raise from now and then.

For me, you sound like a hungry power gamer (or normal for that matter)who wants to reach Master ASAP. And that is not casual.

If you're casual, you're right, you won't get Master Squad Leader anytime soon. Because you're casual. If you're "hardcore" (which is a pretty stupid name, considering we sit in front of computers and play @#$%ing video games), you need to learn how to grind. There is a more or less perfected hunting technique that allows you to maximize skill gain. I can get 30k SL XP and 100k Pistol XP, alone,in a day. I'm sure other people can get even more. You can too.

I finally gave up on trying to go the straight and honest way and went the power gamer route. Grouped with my normal group, couple CH, 2 combat medics/doc, couple pistol people and myself. That's 4 pets and 7 droids in addition to PCs. We parked the droids so they wouldn't steal weapon xp, which drives SL xp. I made roughly 2mil SL xp this weekend. It was actually more but I hit my 900k cap a couple times. I feel this is an extremely cheesy method but I finally got tired of struggling for so much xp for so little benefit.

I started the weekend with Leadership III and Mobility I. Now I have Leadership III, Mobility III, Strategy I and Tactics IV. Should be master by next weekend.

Btw, in Beta it was asked and SOE defines a casual gamer as someone who spends 20 hours per week on the game.

Just want to wish everyone well...

Since becoming a Master DE last Oct and hearing about all the good stuff that was going to happen to make us a GOOD trade in this game and being somewhat of a starwars fan I just could not wait for the droid invasion. I must admit this was the biggest let down of my Multi-Player gaming history...

Now with reading about publish 8 and the new "smoke" we are getting and tweaking the combat mods [this should have been done in the frist place] and calling that basically it for us until after the space expansion is much more than I can take.... As I have posted before when a Master DE offers to make a free Combat Droid for 2 guilds with over 240 members combined and u can only give 40 ish away for FREE it says how usless they are and we are as a trade in this game.

Good Luck to all of u....

Well I am officially dropping Pistoleer. I have been master a while now, and after mastering TKA, it just doesn't even compare. Almost a year has gone by and freaking DE's are fixed before one of the major combat professions. (No offense to DE) It is just utterly ridiculous to have this many broken specials, useless guns, and not being near equal with other elite combat professions.

Maybe by this time next year, some of the specials will be fixed, and I might come back to my passion, a pistoleer.....

isn't that strange that a melee profession is more powerful than a ranged profesion? And an unarmed one at that.

We don't have time to discuss this in a committee.

Just.... don't get me started on that.. just don't

If this game had combat like we see in the films, we'd have no creature handlers in combat (bar the odd execution arena/cave) and all ranged professions would greatly outclass the melee professions unless right on top of them(by that I mean at arms reach, not the totally unrealistic 20m maxmelee currently has) and even then if you were a pistoleer you'd have a chance.

I used to be completely against the (attempted) state of the game until I decided on the following:

As it is, they Devs wanted each profession to be as worthwhile as the next (hurrah!), so we have an attempt at balance. When they finally get that right, the game will be a lot more fun. We can have our extreme Star Wars like combat in the SE (assuming they've gotten that right and not made it into some evil warped version of the rogue squadron games - Space sim ala XvT if you please!).

Ach, I got started; ok, now I'll finish.

I am so close to dropping Master Pistoleer cause we can't do crap. Every night I wonder why I torture myself with using such a bad profession. But I refuse to join the millions of TKM that plague our servers just so I can actually do some damage. Don't get me wrong I love Star Wars and sometimes this game lol. But the DEV's have no excuse for not fixing the problems in this game. Wasn't the combat fix supposed to be in February? And now it's April and going on May and still we have nothing. This is a sad excuse for customer service. If this were any other company other than a large corporate one they would have gone under by now cause of the poorest service I have ever seen. I would be embarrased to be a DEV and show up at a gaming show and especially a fan fest with the sort of unprofessional and careless attitudes that they display.

WOW. XwingRogue 3... lets see where do i start...

If you aren't a powergamer... (in which case you can change proffessions on a whim)... a good trick in a game like this is to pick a less than uber build... riflemen, tkm, and CM are all living in fear of the nerf monster.

If you torture yourself about the proffession everynight... i dont know.. quit... dont spite soe for being "large corporate" (euphamism for rich successful and therefore evil)...

...If its that horrible, youd quit.

Nyk8o it's not that I absolutely hate this game dude. Trust me if I did I would have quit by now. The point I was trying to get across is that all of us in here pay SOE to play this game, so because of that we have every right to voice our opinions. I have no desire to be the best at this game. The one's who strive for that are the one's who end up leaving anyway after they get their kicks on beating everyone else. I've played this game since the second day of launch so I have every right to ask why things haven't been fixed. I know that no MMO game is perfect, but the attitude we get from SOE is the same as you are saying, "if you don't like it leave". I work in RL with a company that is customer oriented and I was just stating that SOE is a poor example of how that type of business is to be conducted.

I play this game because I'm a Star Wars fan and that won't change. I commend the DEV's on what they have created for us. We all admit that the game looks awesome. But we also know that SOE is aware of their problems too. Why else would they say they are doing a combat balance. But they need to keep the paying community up to date of the advances of what they are doing to resolve the problems and not just new ideas they have. And no having a forum for us to tell them what we want fixed is not the final answer. We need to be shown that they read those and are working with the community to help make the game better for everyone. After all it's our money that goes toward their paychecks each week.

Here, here... I concur. I too have been playing since the second day and still these items have yet to be addressed.
We had some power early on, but they nerfed the guns and our knockdown. Since that time.. about October if i remember correctly, pistoleers have been all but forgotten. TKM's are sickening, its the default for the powrgamer, and for good reason. They are off the charts in power. But i wont focus on that.

I heard that pistoleer/doctor is the most common combo in the game. I am both master pistoleer and master doctor and i have to say i would have no idea how to fight with the ability to heal/buff myself. It takes me forever to take out a base, then my rifleman friend will run around mowing everything down. I felt like a novice marksman again.

This profession could very viable as is IF they would fix whats broke. I am just curious why they wont fix it. What has been the hang up. I am trying to hang on in hopes of things changing, but if i am going to be a combat person, i have to have more.
