Hi! I am currently a master artisan and I have decided to become a master DE as well. I have decided to grind my way up far enough to make BH droids while I fool around with the rest of the profession and have some fun building droids This way I hope to make some cash and get my name out there as a DE.

Now my question is, do I need to get good resources to make BH droids? It appears they do not benefit from experimentation, but I am new to the whole crafting thing so I am not sure. I have looked through the forum and from what I have seen on swgcraft.com it does not appear exp has any benefit to BH droids.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Like so many things in the DE profession, nobody REALLY knows for sure.
I made a limited test myself with a friend. I crafted around 20 Seeker Droids with a quality rating from 5% to 95% (as a matter of fact the 5% ones were harder to craft than the 95%. I kid you not!) and numbered them. Then I gave the 20 (or so) droids to a friend without telling him what are the good ones, and what are the bad ones. He just had to write down the down each seeker needed to find the target and email it to me. Then I compared the times with my notes about the quality.
I found no difference.
Sometimes the low quality were faster, sometimes the high quality.
But like I said, it was a limited test. I guess you have to repeat it with a few 100 more droids to get a real "scientificly proven" result.
To be honest, I can't answer your question. But I try to make my BH droids as good as possible, just in case quality does really matter.

Even though the experimentation MAY have an effect, it is never noticeable to your intended market. You will be able to sell very serviceable and salable BH droids with very cheap resources - bringing in a nice cash flow.

Nevertheless, use what experimentation you have every time you craft. Don't have to worry initially about quality in terms of grabbing only the best resources - which makes it nice for DE's having fun becoming master, like yourself.

I always experiment, even with fishing poles. It's a point of pride for me, and has always allowed me to become used to always checking on what I need to use to craft. Harvesting good resources becomes easier, as you tend to appreciate the stats more - since you tend to pay more attention to the experimentation lines. This will allow you to recognize good shifts for pure resource selling as well, which is a great MA sideline.

And when you finally get to the point of where experimentation really matters (combat modules, final droid deed experimentation for HAM) you will have anticipated it by looking ahead and stocking those good OQ chemicals and steels.

Wow thanks for the reply guys! I was a BH in a former life and I didnt notice anything that affected the ability to use the droids either but I wanted to make sure that the charges did not need to be experimented. I would hate to only be able to get like 3 charges per droid or something because I used crap resources. I am sure I will have more questions as I go and it is really cool this is a helpful community. Too many times I go to a board only to see people getting flamed for asking simple questions.
