Thread: Probots and Weapon Speed
I was watching my probot last night and then looked at the combat screen. It fires once every 4 seconds exactly. The speed in the datapad says 1.56.
Is everyone's probot doing this currently?
What about the droids on TC?
I think this is a good approach to take because we know that the stated stats of the probot are off: for example, non-TC probots still say CL 16.
But we should be careful in mearuring by the animation. I suggest using the combat logs. Is there a way to time by logs?
Comparing TC and non-TC times this way may be a better measure.
Here is an exceprt from a combat log that I took on my TC Probot...
[Combat] 00:23:42 a Probot droid shoots at a plasma thief camp and hits for 64 points of damage.
[Combat] 00:23:46 a Probot droid shoots at a plasma thief camp and hits for 53 points of damage.
[Combat] 00:23:50 a Probot droid shoots at a plasma thief camp and hits for 47 points of damage.
[Combat] 00:23:54 a Probot droid shoots at a plasma thief camp and hits for 79 points of damage.
[Combat] 00:23:58 a Probot droid shoots at a plasma thief camp and hits for 75 points of damage.
[Combat] 00:24:02 a Probot droid shoots at a plasma thief camp and hits for 69 points of damage.
[Combat] 00:24:06 a Probot droid shoots at a plasma thief camp and hits for 42 points of damage.
[Combat] 00:24:10 a Probot droid shoots at a plasma thief camp and hits for 64 points of damage.
[Combat] 00:24:14 a Probot droid shoots at a plasma thief camp and hits for 57 points of damage.
[Combat] 00:24:18 a Probot droid shoots at a plasma thief camp and hits for 76 points of damage.
[Combat] 00:24:22 a Probot droid shoots at a plasma thief camp and hits for 59 points of damage.
Still 4 seconds between each shot ![]()
Drashk, how do I capture the combat log of my non-TC probot in action? Also, what sort of target should I fight? Does armor make a difference in damage?

To log an account the command is /log . This will save all channel information that you are recieving, meaning any info of the chat windows that you have open. The chat log will be saved to a .txt file in Profiles/Log in name/Server/Character Name. This file will record any chat channel activity from the moment it is activated until you log out or enter /log to end the file.
There are two different targets that I suggest, NPC bases and unarmored NPCs (including 0% resists).
NPC bases will give you a base line for calculating damage / over time. Bases are always hit, so this will give you the chance to see a broader range of damages and will offer an absolute damage / per shot ratio. A 3500 Hit Point Base will give you 50 - 70 damage entries in your log, so that you can giveinfo on; 1) average damage per shot, 2) Min / Max Damage range, and 3) highest statistical damage hit (what damage amount appeared the most times during combat). 3 to 5 NPC base attack logs will give you a good base line to work with and paint a fairly accurate picture of the damage capablities.
Unarmored NPCs will give you a more accurate combat log, since it will include accuracy and other affects of 'live fire'. When calculating the average damage caused in battle, target misses are also included in the equation. Speed, accuracy, and the average damage per shot can be better calculate in this test. This also allows for the largest amount of variance and any information gained from this type of combat must be averaged over a series of battes. 15 to 20 NPC combat logs will give you a more accurate picture of the 1) damage / to hit ratio,2) average damage / per hit, 3) average damage / per attack, 4) attack / per speed, 5) Max / Min damage. and 6) highest statistical damage hit.
Armored oppenents will corrupt any combat data, since the damage reduction is not listed in the /log. You can calculate this information manually, however this leads to less accurate data due to percentage factors.
I hope that this helps
No. Next time you are out in combat, time to see how long your fire your weapon and how much damage you cause using only normal attacks. Your weapon states x speed and x damage, but you will notice that the speed that you fire and the damage that you cause isn't entirely based on the stats of your weapon.
The same is true for any Droid/pet/perk. The listed attributes are just like the listed attributes of a weapon. Some other determining factor dictates the difference in speed, damage, and accuracy, just like Player Characters Skills do. This 'skill bonus' is not listed on droids/pets/perks but is the same for each and every one of the same type.
In regards to the current speed factor on the Probot, I believe that the listed value that is currently displayed of 1.5 ish, is a display bug just like the Difficulty Level 16 is, however I could be wrong, since it appears that all of the Droids Attack Speeds have changed.

I have the timestamp in my logs too and saw the exact same 4 second interval. Is this from your TC bot with 2.x attack speed? The one I was using is 1.5.
It would seem there are hard caps on the speed and HAM. 4 seconds for speed and 810 or 820 on HAM (depending if the deed says <820 or >= 820).
If these are in fact caps then the deeds should reflect that. I would say that is a bug, no?
Some where in the options, I'm sorry I don't remember exactly where but I would guess under Misc, you can turn on timestamps for your messages. This timestamp goes on everything in spatial, combat, etc. This is what I was using as a time, not the animations.

This is my Test Center Probot. This question for you is what are you having the Probot attack when you are timing it? Are you timing on MOBs or on MOB bases? The 4 second spacing that I listed was for a Base (lair). I believe that the attack made on a lair are at set intervals. Probots in combat versus a 'live' oppenent have a faster recycle rate than versus a Base. Probots also fire two shots per volley, in close quarts combat. I didn't get around to making any combat logs for one of my Probots last night, since I had to do mission grinds to moves some harvesters around.

Mine was vs a lair also. I will look at the logs again tomorrow vs a mob and see. But I am guess it is the same as I never noticed it ever shooting faster than that. Logs tomorrow....
