Well, perma death is gone.

This is great for probots. They will wear down to the point that people will dump them and want a new one (who is gonna want a 200 HAM probot)? We should see a lot more probot sales now, I think.

However, the changes that were made were made for combat critters. Crafting / surgical droids are not supposed to be combat critters - and will now NEVER need replacement. Who cares if your surgical droid only has 5 HAM? It still will have it's 110 healing mod.

So, in general, I think that this is a step in the right direction - even if it is just sloppy seconds of code written for the CH's. However, I would still like to see the addition of slow deterioration of droids. Make it so it can be repaired by the repair module in a droid, perhaps. But allow for some repeat sales, too.

I see where your going with the decay ideas. Reduced effectiveness of the droids modules would most certainly provide for more customers.

But then architects could ask for the same on crafting stations (wouldnt that suck), and houses.

I say it would be too much of a hassle. Lets make our money on the seekers, probots, and future crafting droids and let the non combat droids endure.

Well, with the reports coming in, it seems that droids don't loose HAM permently when they die.

So, I guess that maybe they intended for slow deterioration of droids... but didn't get it right.

Well, actually, houses do have maintance costs - you don't pay the rent, they fall apart.

Personally, I wouldn't mind it if a crafting station wore out - maybe not have it's effectiveness go down, but have wear and tear on it, and have to replace it every so often.

Already, Architects and Tailors are getting to the point where they are having a hard time selling things. As there is no decay in what they make, unlike armor and weapons, there is no demand for their products. I don't want to see this for DE's.

Yes, seekers and probe droids still wear out. However, I don't thnk that those droids alone will be enough to sustain us.

Getting rid of permadeath for droids is a step in the right direction.

The real problem still remains, though. Who wants to spend credits to buy even an advanced probot with a whopping 820 HAM and 50 damage when any player can get a pet like a cowardly gurrect has 3k HAM and like 160-170 damage? (better damage than the pre-nerf advanced probots) I seem to recall the devs complaining that the probots were too powerful and ruining the game, so they nerfed the heck out of them....but people can get non-CH pets that are superior to our pre-nerf probots and that's OK??

Before the big nerf, the only droid people really seemed to care about was the probots.

As long as people can buy non-CH creature pets with stats superior to anything we can make, nobody's going to want to buy our stuff. Yeah, droids are nice as portable crafting stations, but it looks like you can still only have one station per droid actually work, and since droids depend on the modules rather than their type, there's nothing to stop people from ordering a mouse droid with crafting station rather than an advanced R3 (unless they want non-crafting stuff like item, data, and medical modules).

As far as the other droids, there's still no point in buying a load lifter, protocol droid, and some of these others. Sure, you can make a gonk droid, but people can recharge their droids just as effectively with the droid battery from Engineering I.

Only being able to have one droid out at a time doesn't help much, either....advanced probots with repair modules still get wounds, and we can't bring out a second droid like an R2 or R3 to fix it.

I'm like a lot of you...very frustrated and wondering why I've got all these skill points invested in DE when it seems obvious so far that SOE and LucasArts care more about creature pets than droids. Not also can you have multiple creature pets out (if CH anyway), but even the non-CH pets are superior to the probots that the devs decided were too powerful and nerfed.
