I am probably one of only 3% of SWG players who actually didn't learn language. I don't want to learn it. But I do nead to understand those crazy wooks every now and then.

What kind of droid can translate languages and how much is one?

There are no droids that can translate in the manner that you are seeking. The protocol droid would be a logical candidate - but in fact protocol droids serve no purpose whatsoever. I have sold 2 of them though, just because folks want to own them.

Languages are far to easy to learn in this game - have you ever tried to *learn* another language? It oughta take as long as opening your FS slot will to master another language completely. Instead its a 4sec job to learn the language so you can speak it just like a native.

To make it more important, they should make each language cost 1 skill point to a max of 5 skill points (for total fluency). This would at least make learning a language something worth while. They could then filter your speech with garbage based on your language comprehension of whatever skill.

I've had similarthoughts about some sort of progressive learning curve for learning languages, withdifferent levels of comprehension along the way. Varying levels of speaking would be great, too, and could be very entertaining for those listening to you. I really think that would be great.

I mean, in all seriousness, it should take just as long to master a language as it should to master an advanced profession. But I realize that most people playing this game probably don't have the patience for it.

At thevery least the devs should give us the ability tosurrender language skills.

But I believea skillpoint cost for languagesis very much needed. Not only would it help to vivify the DE profession, it would make the game so much more fun.

Regardless of how either of you feel about the current system, Can a Protocol Droid translate stuff? If not, can any droid translate langauge?

Language is always common in a /tell

No droid in SWG can translate right now. Therein lies the rub.

Protocol droids absolutely should be able to. But there's been no word from the devs on whether or not this is the works.

It's my guess that because this issue is so closely tied with the language system, that a solution for both protocol droids and languages will probably be rolled out at the same time... and that's probably one of the reasons it's taking so long.

Yes, I realise I can use /tells. They are a ton of ways to get around the language barrier. But I was hoping for a translation droid. I was really excited when the Devs said they had them and now they crushed all my hopes. grrrr.... ok, thanks for the info.

Stupid lies really start to get irritating after a while. I wish the Devs would stop promising things they can't deliver.
