Thread: Yet another DE on the verge of losing it
I think i am going to quit this game soon. I am at 1-3-0-4
I build the most powerful combat droid. That day i tried dueling a novice CH. a friendly fight. He got out a level 23 tiger and I said,"hey let our pets duel"
his CH skills were at 1-1-0-0
The tiger(ranzor cat if i am not mistaken) survived with scratches after 2 1/2 min of struggle with my probot.
I've tried so hard to hold on. What am i doing here wasting my time trying to level my DE when at the end of the day I get nothing in return. Going to buy some other single player game like jedi academy and lionheart to enjoy. I am supposed to enjoy the game SOE not endure the game. What ever the case. I am quitting when this month is up, if there is no significant improvement in DE line.
Yeah they've removed permadeath. dont get all happy boys. why did they even added it in the first place?
was it so difficult that you have to take a month to restore that?
Reasons for leaving the game
1) Poor Customer Relations
It's not only DE. You havent talked on the other forums as well. You only care well for CH it seems. When we try and protest via a long thread, you block it. A simple message that says <We'd look into it> could possible appease thousands of DEs and worked better than a block.
2)Questionable nerfs
I dont get it. First you put in Permadeath for droids what's with that? then you took you 1 month to remove it. I seriously dont understand SOE's intention. and they dont explain it too
3)Empty Promises
You've promised a fix on DEs for how long now? What was the significant thing you've done? give our pets permadeath and then remove it.
Where are the droidekas you've promised us?
A Totally Disappointed Customer
Issfire
If understand your pain Issfire im up to 4,4,1,4 and have been there for close to 3 weeks.. I just havent been bothered to lvl up to masted DE since it wont give me jack S@#$... Im seeing the DE population stedily decreasing.. My whole guild 50 plus people left the game all togehter just a week ago becouse the game is so bugged, and once you have gotten your master tittle you can basically just sit on your ass.. since there is no special quest that work or any decent loot to be found from hunting rare creatures or hitting dungeons... I cant beleive that a company like SOE cant understand the most fundamental rule of modernday marketing.. Customer relation.. you would think they would have some decent marketing guys there that would tell them that they need to build a customer relation and make sure they please all the current customers and convince them to stay.. Instead they seem to be applying an old outdated Sales view to marketing where the only thing that matters is getting a new customer once your in the game, they dont seem to give a S$#% about if you stay or not... In the end they will loose out since there isnt a infinite customer base... You know what they said a happy customer tells 3 others about there experience and a unhappy customer tells 10... If they continue like this they will loosea lot of customers.. Its there los in the end they could be earning so much more money, if they just kept us happy and at the same time as they get new people in... Oh well SOE seriously need to consider firing there Marketing executive.....
First off, they nerfed the probots from over 3k ham, 150 or so damage down to what they are now because there was concern that newbie characters could buy them and be overly powerful. Then they made droids perma death in an attempt to get rid of all the old probots, because they couldn't retroactively nerf them. Then they made it so EVERYONE can use CH pets that are on a par with the pre-nerfed probots... only these pets could be incapped and not perma die (even though it would make a lot more sense if they could than for the droids). Then they take off the perma-death on droids...
Ok for the first part, if the prenerf probots were too powerful for new players, then why oh why did they make the pet level 15 for new players? They get around this by labeling a probot as a level 16 'creature'. As if we are to believe that the probot is better than the non-ch pets. It is all very discouraging.
There is very little logic to most of the changes mentioned above. EXCEPT.... that WE ASKED FOR THIS....
It was the droid engineers who said the probots were too powerful to begin with...
It was the droid engineers who complained that droids needed to be 'killable' so that we could get return customers (because they were concerned that once everyone had a probot there would be no return market)
I don't think DEs in particular asked for non-ch pets (far from it) but it was asked for repeatedly by players.
Unfortunately the devs listen to some of the cries, and not others that are more reasonable. And they are more quick to nerf than to fix existing problems. I think they see nerfing as a quick and easy path... but we all know that leads to the dark side.

Here is my list of skills. Were I to have more points available I would not have untrained some of my scouting, merchant, and rifle abilities. Not to mention theXPI have sitting there waiting to level me up that I'll never be able to do... I also have 1240 Apprenticeship points kicking around...
Master Artisan
Droid Engineer 0 0 0 2
Carbineer 2 0 0 0
Merchant 0 2 3 0
Marksman 1 1 4 4
Scout 4 0 2 0
Medic 2 1 1 3
The professions in yellow are the ones that my 'end character' will keep. I'll be able to master the top 3 and keep Marksman the way it is. But you know what? If I do this I'll be getting rid of most of my fun in the game and for what? To be able to make a whack of useless items, from droids to poopy tasting foods. Sure, I'll have some kick butt butt kicking ability, but I wont be able to heal myself anymore, which, allow me to say, is the only way I stay alive for days on end.
So, what am I saying? What am I getting at? Well...
Ok, my level of Artisan can't get any better and even though I'm often around, selling this and that, I really don't need the profession. Nobody really ever needs any of the Artisan stuff, even cheap factory crates of electronics, repair kits, etc. Merchant is handy, just for that Wookiee vendor. Add Barking and World Map were cool; resetting them every day was not. Carbineer is proving to be decent, though it's novice specials are just as good as thehigher ones I've tried. Sure, I can't make all of the droids or even most of the droids, nor can make many of their modules, but then again, I don't need to. Rarely does anyone want one, even my guild mates. I like scout, makes me feel like I'm not wasting things when I kill animals. Medic? Well, medic freakin rocks! I can use/make stim pack Bs and that helps loads. So, it would seem that with my 14 skill points that I have left to allocate, there really isn't anything I'dneed to do with them, which is really sad considering my dreams of being a DE and all...
I'd love to master DE, but you know what it? It's freaking boring as all hell standing there in my house clicking away when I could be doing something, interacting with someone (or at least some thing). Yes, I believe we should have to work for what we attain, but come on SOE, would YOU like to sit there and do the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over, (for what I estimate to be rough 37 straight hours) to master a profession you'd love to have, if it were actually useful? No, you probibly wouldn't. Guess what, we don't want to either. Ohh, we will accpet your absence of creativitybecause we haven't any other choice, but that doesn't we'll like it. Correct me if I am wrong, but is a game not meant to be enjoyable?
Finally, I would like to say that despite the great efforts made by those who play this game with me and despite my having abilities from seven (7!) different profession, this game is boring. I love MMORPGs, in fact I quit EQ because I liked too much. This game? it's just a big fat dissapointment, especially the Droid Engineer profession, which sadly happened to be the ONLY reason why I bothered to buy the game.
SWG started off with a bang and blew up in my face even harder. I like the people, but the game bores the hell out of me.
Anyone want my stuff? I'll stick it in bags on my vendor for you....
First denial then anger then acceptance?.
I am currently in Anger. Droid Engineeering is a mind game to see if you crack before making it to Master DE.
Ok! See you later! I hope more DE's quit! It will mean less competition for me. I hope you're on my server! YAY! Bye Bye! See ya!

Mr. Moo
Exactly what CH can put a crafting station or item storage or a med module ina creature?
Droids arent just for fighting.
The best fighting droid doesnt match the best pet a CH can bring. so what? Do bounty hunters need to come to a CH over and over to complete their missions? No. Do medics and docs need a creature pet to help heal wounds? No. Do all types of crafters get creature pets with crafting stations in them? NO. Time to stop whining about what you think is wrong and open your eyes to the rest of the profession, or just get out and be a CH.
Whatever! I'm tired of people complaining and posting on here they are going to quit - just friggin' do it then! I'm just as dissapointed as anyone else about the crappy problems we have to put up with but I don't cry about it - I try to make the most of it and enjoy the profession and find creative ways to have fun despite the problems. If he hates it so much, then he should leave.... I'm just agreeing with him!
Mr. Moo
I am currently at 1-2-0-2 in DE
So far, I love it.
I agree there are some definate bugs, and at times I am wary of selling some combinations of modules in droids to customers for fear that i will get /tell five minutes later telling me that the droid does not do what it was intended to do. Overall, people do know that every profession is not bug free, and if you dont make it aware to your customer then you are setting yourself up for some trouble and grief.
When i first started this profession i made about 10 emails about every common question i think a person would have for me about the droids and then MAILED IT TO MYSELF.
Naming, Modules, Types, Bugs, Armor, Reasons to own one, Etc.
By mailing it to yourself, you give yourself the option to then forward this mail to anyone who has these inquiries.
SOE did a good job in implementing this Mail Program and for that i give them props.
I cant tell you how many people i made happy by just emailing them the answer instead of typing it all out.
I hope that SOE will improve the DE profession in time by adding more droids and fixing the customizations. In the meantime if you feel you dont want to wait and go on to something different, DROP THE PROFESSION. Thats why SOE put that there.
If you have a good customer base, and feel bad leaving them, please help a budding DE and send them to me.
Im usually in DG or Coronet, Corellia
