Thread: About the recent changes
The new patchs have fixed many issues that have plagued us for some time.
- The factories actually work.
- The increase in charges for BH droids saves us resources, time, and still we can turn a profit while the Bounty Hunters benefit from higher availability and lower prices as well (a rare win-win situation).
- No more droid death! Because of this more people are buying droids again, and we can slightly increase our prices.
- Armor works better! That armor on your droid now makes it hardier.
- Data-pad pets exploit fixed -- this really needed to be done. It is just wrong when our profession ends up being tied to seedy operations and exploits.
Things I would like to see in the NEAR future:
- Full 10 experimentation points please! And let our experimentation amount to more than a few hp difference in a finished product!
- Customization!
- DE ability to heal droids (white). Why can't we do this? Anyone can use a stimpac on a pet, but the droids just sit there slowly regaining their health. Pitiful and unrealistic.
- Dev aknowledgement of known issues and fixes. It would be nice if the devs would let us know what is going on, what is actually changed, what works with what had why. For example, is it by design that repair modules don't work in 'talking' droids? By design that data and item storage don't work in them either? If so, then we should know about it before we craft them. There should be some information about the purpose and use that they can supply us, or at least informing us that they know something doesn't work but is supposed to.
I am not even touching droid specifics... that could take a much longer post and has been done a great deal already.

Wow, I just posted but I posted the pessimistic outlook on the changes. You put a happy spin on what actually does work and that makes me feel better ![]()
Although on things you'd like to see in the near future... we should add that experimentation doesn't work at all
The slight experimentation effects that we just assumed worked (who could tell the difference since they are so small) really aren't working despite how they say they do.
Heh, You are right, I was being kind on the experimentation comment. The bitter truth is that experimentation does work however slightly... at least you can see the teensy difference on an Adv probot, experiment on effectiveness and you get: 820 HAM for a failure on experiment up to 826 for amazing success! And everyone is surely going to rush to the DE who turns out those extra 6 HAM don't ya think?
Experimentation shouldn't be a joke.

It's amazingly broken, no exaggeration. I can't imagine a beginning DE using less perfected tools.
<Data-pad pets exploit fixed -- this really needed to be done. It is just wrong when our profession ends up being tied to seedy operations and exploits.>
Actually this is not a good thing! Half my business (which consisted of droid trade-ins) is now ruined! Not to mention my sales on the street are now hurt badly. Not to mention, who in the blue hell stores more than 3 factory schematics at a time? The Data modules are now worthless!
Before the fix...
I had one of each model droid I can make in storage in my R4 droid. Someone wanted to know what a certain droid looks like, I just called it out. I also had a good pre-tamed, used droid business where I'd buy people's used droids that they didn't want and/or sell them an upgraded droid. I also had a large clientelle of CH's that wanted to deal in large ammounts of creatures.
After the fix....
I now can only have the 5 lowest model droids on me to call. No longer can I be followed around by any cool high level droid I can make. That screws part of my advertising. If someone wants to see any other droid I have to tell them to go to my shop to see my chassis's. It's fine and dandy on my home planet, but what if I'm on Lok, or Yavin 4? Now when someone wants a better droid than what they have, I've got to tell them they have to buy a whole new droid and trash their old one. If they can't afford a new one, that's tough cause I can't sell useddroids anymore. My CH business is gone, absolutely gone.
Yes factories work (mine always did, never any problems).
Yes BH droids have charges.
Yes droid permadeath is gone...
But I would easily take back permadeath and the 1 BH droid charge to get the Data modules have some realuse again!
If you don't agree, I'm sorry. Please just let me sulk in my own misery!
on the data module 'fix' as well:
Do you realize for a novice DE that wants to go up in skills the normal way, that is, advancing through the selling of his wares, it took 50% of the market away. Before I used to sell some 3 medic and 3 data droids in one day, now only 3 medic (nobody buys storage droids).
Is this change a confirmation that the devs mean us to practice-grind our way all the way up to the more useful things? I certainly don't like that approach.

I agree they are worthlesss (need to be able put WP in them) But beyond the physical techincal details that creats Database problems. CH being able to to hold 100 of ANY creatue level hurts our business of probots.
Why.. we can have a stock pile to sell of at most 50 (and still be able to make other models effectivly) now with the data module exploit CH's can have a stock pile of 100 creatures that anyone can use that is potentially better then a probot.
At least when a CH runs out of 4 or 5 CL 15's they leave and has to go tame more and i can start selling my probots.
I never sold data modules for that exact reason hurts my business more then helps it.
droid death needed to be fixed, even as a DE i would say "no way" to using probots to fight, their way too expencive, now i use them even though it cant fight my fights for me, it adds exttra damage

This is a very bad thing. Do you really want to be in the business of selling an item that lasts forever? You will never get return business once a player has all the droids he wants. The universe will saturated by droids because they do not decay.

This is not ture, they act just like pets now, in the regards to their decay. If they are DeathBlowed (not incapped) they lose vitality, and vitality cannot be fully resotred (or restored at all at the moment) Which means that over time they WILL eventually be less than full HAM and therefore people will trash them and buy new Probots, yes it will take time but that means it IS repeat business for us, the same reason CH's have repeat business on their pets.
