Thread: What is the droid repair tool for?

I made a droid repair tool, and someone brought me a droid that had been incapped and lost vitality. So I said I will fix it. So seh transfers it to me and I use the repair tool, but when I try to repair it says there is nothing to repair. Finally I said just go to a Bio-Engineer.

But why would a BIO-engineer need to fix and inoragnic machine?

What is that repair tool for?

Not positive but I think the reapir tool only works on your own droids, same as weapon & armor repair tools... I will test this tonight and get back.

Ummm, not quite. Unless they fixed it this patch, the droid repair tool doesn't do anything, it's been broken since the beginning.

Oh, and as far as I've heard....vitality packs from BE's don't work on droids either.....

Ok... let me ge this straight... they purposely put in vitality loss for droids... but they don't give them an ability to regain it through packs like regular pets.

Yep... this sounds like SOE to me... way to go guys. Its always nice to see such a well thought out decision from such a reputable company.

I havent had a pet of any type yet.. but I think the Droids are suppose to Regen their vitality back on their own... over the course of an hour or something.... of course I could be completely mistaken. Either way... there needs to be a working repair unit to speed that up.... even if its a DE only Oil Bath like Luke gave to 3po in star wars.

The vitality rating is seperate from the HAM bars. The HAM bars will regenerate over time, but the vitality rating goes down each time the droid is incapped (or deathblown?) and doesn't come back.

The 1st 10% of the code takes 90% of the time; the remaining 90% of the code takes the remaining 90% of the time.

1) Droids do not die upon incapacitation (YAY!)

2) Droids do not loose vitality upon Incapacitation (YAY!) ...although, I havn't tried to get it deathblown yet.

3) HAM does regenerate over time.

I don't know why this is a "yay!" reaction. What about return business? If a droid will last "forever" and never need replacement or repair, what happenes when the last plaer on your server has a droid already? It seems by doing this, there will only be a finite demand for droids. If you biuld a car that will never need gas, repair, or upkeep, why make any more to buy when anyone who has one will NEVER need one again?

I say that vitality should drop when a droid is incapped, and can only be repaired by a qualified DE. This will make a secondary skill a DE can use to make credits, and the demand for there skills will go up.

Same should be held for weapon charges on a probot, or any combat droid. Sure, probably you can use the same battery to charge that too...but i'm thinking of play balance.

Wouldn't it be nice to know that someone will come by your droid shop every now and then for a probot oil bath and tune-up?

I would really rather that players had to come back to you to get the droid fixed or purchase a new droid. Anything that lasts forever is absolutely terrible for business.

There is no such thing as a droid repair tool, you are just imagining it. The devs have clearly said that there is currently no way for you to repair your droids, but they will be adding a tool in a future patch, craftable by artisans, probably called something like "a droid repair tool" that can be used for this purpose.

/sarcasm off
