Thread: DE/battlebots and the game
Have a idea was thinking over and just want to throw it out amongest the galaxy for thoughts.
Alot of us want the battlebots brought back into the game the most probably being the DE's so lets do a little history and go from there.
After the clone wars battlebots were outlawed in the galaxy for fear of what happened in the clone wars but still they were made by some rouge droid engineers so they are out there.
Now off that thought why couldnt we break down battlebots into say 5 different types of models for the 5 different tiers of the droid engineer (im not a DE so not sure which tier line they should be ran in but that can be worked out with the devs and the DE's). One model for each tier the last in master DE and being the strongest. This gives a reason to be a master DE. You can start the models off at basic prenerf probot this gives a comparative to ch pets at that level all the way up to well let the imaginations run hehehe.
Now also in that tier is a certifacation that is made by the DE and sold as training for use in that model of battlebot. Since we have 250 skill points break the certifacations in to lots of 50 skill points that you can use them. 1-50 skill points spent you can use cert 1, 51-100 cert 2 usable, 101-150 cert 3 usable, 151-200 cert 4 usable, 201-250 cert 5 usable this stops every newbie from having the most powerful battle droid in game.
Now since battlebots are illeagal the certifaction will cost the DE to sell them to the player. This will be charged by something it can be called anything (The Glactic Protection Board) and is basically a kickback for roleplayers or a money sink for the devs. Also it is charged to the DE himself to help stop him from just giving the certs away to everyone. Example cert one 2k credits, cert two 4k credits, cert three 6k credits, cert four 8k credits, cert five 10k credits. Now if the DE wants to give the certs away fine but it will cost him and if he wants to charge more for them to make a profit he can but that amount is taken from his account by the game when he sells one no matter what. Also if a person wants more then one model he can buy extra certs for smaller amounts to let him have more bots in pad extra bots costing cert one 500 credits, cert two 1k credits, cert 3 1500 credits, cert 4 2000 credits, cert 5 2500 credits.
All in all this gives the players that want fighting droids a chance to get them, gives the DE's a product to sell and a reason to level, gives a workable cert system so not every newb will have a superbot, gives the devs a good money sink.
Now of course this is just a thought but it gives everyone the compromises that they are looking for sure it might be expensive to some but if you want to get anything in the game you have to compromise or someone going to call for a nerf hehehehe.
"After the clone wars battlebots were outlawed in the galaxy for fear of what happened in the clone wars but still they were made by some rouge droid engineers so they are out there."
No they weren't. You are incorrect. Battle droids were, and always had been, illegal in the Old Republic. When the Republic fell, and the Empire was born, battle droids were no longer illegal. In fact, the Empire was actively creating new kinds of battle droids. One example would be theassassination droids.

Daggo you didnt get what he was saying.
Now also in that tier is a certifacation that is made by the DE and sold as training for use in that model of battlebot. SOOO simple yet SOOO ingenous !!! EIGHT THUMBS UP ![]()
i been trying to think of a way that newbies cant get ahold of the certs myself, yet it always boils down to who has money and who don't. but your way if they havent spent a large portion or all of their skill points into some skills then NOPE NO UBBAH BOT FOR JOOO !! you gotta be lvled up by not having so many skill points left unspent to get a good bot that way it is perfect no newies will have the highest lvl bots unless they hack the game and make it think they have no points left but then they will be screwing themselves ![]()
Very nice idea bro for not being a DE yourself you got all your **edit** in one sock ![]()
ideas like this can still save our prof ![]()
Raystonn your probably correct about the battledroids not being illeagle i was just going on some information that i thought was correct.
The use of battlebots was not outlawed until after the the Naboo incident when the Galactic Republic issued legislatures outlawing battledroids and droid armies. Such relics still remain from the time before this law was issued such as IG-88 the assassian droid who was built by HolowanLabratories and upon activation killed all his makers and activated 3 more assassian droids IG-88 B, C, and D downloading his programing into them. IG-88-B became a bounty hunter and was destoyed by Boba Fett in the cloud city when capturing Han Solo. IG-88-C was killed by Boba Fett over the skies of Tantoonie when Boba Fett was returning Han to Jabba. IG-88-D was killed by Dash Renden on Ord Mantell. IG-88-A the original had his programming downloaded into a battlestation computer core and arrange for it to be put into the second Death Star making him the second Death Star and was about to release a droid army that he had built secretly but was destroyed before he could do it. The shell of the original IG-88 was reprogramed as a body guard and has been used by Barpotamus Drebble and Tyko Thul.
The only known mass production of battle droids after the clone wars are the imperial dark troopers that were created in secret by General Rom Mohc on Mohc flagship the Arc Hammer. They were used after the battle of Yavin against a alliance installation on a Tak base destroying most of the rebels there. After this a alliance mercenary named Kyle Katarn snuck aboard the Arc Hammer and detroyed it killing General Mohc. After the Emperor found out about the destruction of the Arc Hammer and the cost of the project he ended it.
Now with the Galactic Senate which is the old republic surviving up to "A New Hope" where Vader tells Leia that the Emperor has disbanded the old senate this being the turning point where the Empire takes full control even though that they were the power before that. I have not seen where the law was repelled for the masses but i could be mistaken that was why i said what i did. Now it is a well known fact that battledroids of different types are still being created in the outer rim thru all this but it was still illeagal.
But of couse the way my luck goes im probably completely wrong as usual on all this.
When I see a Data Module that can hold all my data pad items then ill worry about battledroids.I mean come on. DATA PAD items should be able to be strored in a DATA MODULE, but no way sony can take a chance that we could play the game faster by having more misssions on use the the 2 limit they have now. That would mean less money for them since we pay by the month. And the 1 droid called rule pisses me off to no eand .
This game sucks for me as a DE . I have 750k in cash. All but 10 k are from destroy missions. Im a MDE/MD and at this point of the gameI wont make a droid for anyone even if they pay me. No point in it. No real money in it ,no funin it and nothing to do with all the cash i have now. Yea and i dont heal people other then myself for about the same reasons. I see a Dead End game here. Hit master and all that is left is NPC missions that are broke. I used to get really upset being a DE and not being able to make anything that was cool, fun and usefull. Now im looking at the whole game like i look at DE.
The cert system was a bad idea. There is no reason to charge a DE to give certs to other players. Just add a Droid cert to some of the elite professions. ie bounty hunter, pistoleer, tka. and so on. Make it similar to cratures where u can use up to a certain level of droid, depending on how high you are on the bounty hunter tree and soo on. The way to moderate the use of probots and other such droids is to make it so you need at least some elite profession to use a decent battlebot. Probots as they are, are fine for newbies. they can help u fight kreetles and such, but add bots like droideka's and make it so only certain master elite professions can use them, IE bounty hunter.

i can hear it now
DE: this class is totally messed up.
Devs: you must keep a positive attitude.
DE: ok im positive this class is totally messed up !!!
keep it a simple cert system,
make, as suggested in this thread, a five tier cert system (therefore there should be at least five different battle droids, as a DE this makes me happy,)
make certifications cost actuall skill points! with level one being free of course.<whatever cost, you make it up>
make it to were you must be progressive in attaining your certs, and you must visit you local DE to be trained.
here's the clincher, in order to attain the next level of certification, you must <_____fill in blank____>
lets keep brainstorming, maybe if we work diligently enough the devs will peek in our littlw world so see why were so quiet ![]()
