Thread: Detonation Modules Variety

Here is a wacky idea I had whilst I was busy making up some boom boom droids.
Wouldn't it be nice, if we had a Variety of Detonation Modules? Obviously, at the moment our boom boom do a nice amount of Blast damage, this is great for BH against Jedi, but what about PvE?
How about as well as the Blast Module we have some others
Example
EMP Module - this delivers an Electrical Pulse, doing Electricity Damage
ShrapnelModule - this is packed with Metal shards, and does Kinetic damage
Fire Modules - this acts like a Napalm bomb, doing Fire damage, chance of target catching fire
Ice Module - does Cold damage
Acid Module - as above, does Acid damage to the target
Light Module - doesn't do damage, but sends out a large burst of light, and sound possibly stunning and blinding a target
This would mean you could create specific Boom droids for different purposes, or a generic boom doing less damage but across a wider variety of types.
Anyway, just an idea.

interesting idea..
i'd like to add to that by supplementing the idea of chassis type determines pool hit
ground chassis exploding droid targets action pool.. MSE/WED
flying droid targets mind pool.. seekers/probots/akyrad
humanoid to target health.. repair/surgical/protocol
R-units would continue to function as existing
BLL's to function with damage multiplier (to be determined) due to increased size..
*shrug.. just some random thoughts to 'spice things up' a bit

It sure does look like anice idea but it would propably get into the same corner as the combat Modules with different damage...

Sounds like a fun idea!
I can hardly imagine the nightmare it would be getting all the crazy reqources we'd need, though. As it is, Tolium is bad enough.

I think this is a grand idea!
Just PLEASE make it like Architect Gungan Head Statues where you make one object and choose which type you want later in the crafting.
I don't want to have to chase down 14 more different types of rare materials just for some variety

Kinda off topic, but if they ever introduce the Droid Commander class it would be nice to see droids doing a variety of damage rather than just kinetic or energy. Fire could require the integration of an FT. Acid the HAR. LLC electricity. Energy would just be the standard damage type. Kinetic would be the only damage type availible for melee droids.
But until then I like the idea of more damage types however there would need to be some way of making sure only one type could be used at a time imo.

They have something similar, its called grenades and traps. Until those are as useful as they can and should be, we shouldn't try to stick our fingers in other profession's pie.
Don't get me wrong, I dont mind the idea, but I'd rather see it implemented differently. where all our Detonation modules require WS made parts, but we choose the type and grade we use.
Yes, I know we are already the most dependent of crafters, but that doesnt mean it doesnt make sense for us to spontaneously gain weapon making abilities of our own just so we dont have to get parts made for us.
