Thread: Repair and Combat Droids

A few other questions that I have is what exactly does the repair droid do? I imagine it repairs vehicles or perhaps maybe structures... but in order to use the repair droid does the repair droid charge you money to fix vehicles? What is the advantage of using a repair droid over other means of repair?

Also on the combat droids...what are approximately the best combat droids you can make? Which type droid makes the best combat droid? Are some of the best combat droids worth the money to spend to buy them? Does the combat module grant that droid that it is placed in ranged combat?

It depends, are you talking about LE repair droids, droid repair modules, or auto-repair modules. The LE repair droid has no built in function, its just like any other droid. The Repair module allows a droid to repair another droid's wounds (only way for a non-DE to repair a droid's wounds) and an auto-repair module will heal all droids in the same group within 30m's damage every 10 seconds (amount healed depends on strength of the module). None of them are for vehicle or structure maintenance/repair.

Here are the 3 primary combat droids:

Probot: 170-180 damage, 0.7 speed (though the actual cap is higher, around 1 I think), 3200 HAM, and 20% resists.

R3: 160-170, 1.5 speed, 4500 HAM, and 20% resists

LE Repair: low damage (can't remember the numbers off the top of my head), 6k HAM, and 20% resists.

I'd say all the combat droids are worth the cost, but then again it depends on what you pay for them.

Can any droid be a combat droid? Like if I were to put a combat module in an r5 droid or the small floating tracking droid... would it be better in combat? Can you stack combat modules to get a better combat rating?

HAM stands for Health - Action - Mind... the 3 pools just like you have. The higher the HAM, the more hitpoints the 3 pools have. If someone says a droid has 3500 HAM, that means the Health, Action, and Mind pools are at 3500 each.

The best combat droid, imo, is the R3. High HAM, good damage (can take 6 mods). Not to mention that it sounds funny while fighting.

If you're looking for something to tank for you, the LE droid is imo the best. It has the highest HAM so it can survive in combat longer. The catch is, you will have to do most of the damage to the enemy as it has very low damage comparatively.

Not every droid can have combat modules. But in those that can have them, they do stack. The small seeker droid you are talking about while it can be combat capable has low HAM and can only fit 1 module I believe, making it a poor choice for a combat droid.

As far as repair droid go... if the above responses from other people didn't answer your question, what I think you maybe are thinking about is called the Structure Maintenance module. It allows a droid to run around to all your structures (after you program the droid to include specific ones) and place Maintenence on them. These at level 3 can even travel to other planets to do it for you.

I have to disagree about the R3 droid being the best droid to use. Probots are by far better, their speed is faster and they can deal more damage overall (My current models deal 180-190 plus or minus) which is a lot higher than the R3 The only bad thing about the Probot is the lower HAM but with Stim D's you can tank most 8k HAM targets (I can tank stormtroopers pretty well, at least 2 at a time)

Guess it depends on your play style. I use mine as "bait" for the most part when a harv is surrounded by nasties. I send it in, they all attack it, I do my business and run. Come back a bit later, throw on a ninja Stim, store and run.

I chose the R3 over the LE though because the higher attack is still nice for the creatures it can handle without constant repair, while still having high enough HAM to last a minute or two against a gaggle of Mountain Squills.

The probot doesn't really do all that much more damage. 180-190 with 0.7 speed (though it actually caps at about 1) versus the R3 with 160-170 damage with a 1.5 speed. Yea, not quite as much damage, but not a whole lot less. If you're going for max damage probot is the way to go, if you're going for best overall I'd say R3.
