Thread: DE is the next profession to be worked on hmm?
Okay, now before I really begin saying anything, I want people to know that as far as the game goes, I'm new to it, I've played only about a month and a few days. I think this game is fun, but it's definitely not met the expectations it laid out before release.
In my short time playing, and listening on the chat rooms and reading the forums, I've come to some conclusions, fully my own assumptions and opinions, but things that to me, seem rather static.
First and foremost, saying that a profession is the top priority of things to be looked at is kind of like being told asparagus is candy. Sorry, DEV's, but I just don't think anyone is really convinced by that kind of no-action-talk at this point. Give us details and dates and we may give you some faith, until then, prepare to meet up with skepticism.
Now, I don't know too much about too many of the DEVs for the professions, or for anything really, but from all that I've read, the guy keeping tabs on the DE actually seems to feel the same pain that us DE's feel. He seems to be as sincerely irate with the situation as the rest of us, and for that honesty and integrity, I thank him greatly.
Some things caught my eye recently as well, first I read that they wanted to implement three major things into the game that they felt were vital components, namely mounts, player cities, and vehicles. Okay, I'll admit, all three are very cool, and are thus far, interesting. However, before going on and adding other things that are likely full of bugs and issues, shouldn't you maybe look at the already existing bugs and issues and get at least a bulk majority of the big ones out of the way? Isn't it enough to have so many professions complaining at you? Why add more things for us to be wrankled about before you fix the already broken things?
Finally, this also caught my eye. These were the things that the DEVs apparently want to focus on, and below each is a comment from myself.
- All professions should be interesting and enjoyable.
Then you should've made them that way before doing vehicles, mounts, and player cities.
- The game should not end when you finish building your character.
Then give us something to do other than move from one thing to the next in pursuit of professional advancement.
- Players should feel like they are participating in and observing the Galactic Civil War.
There's not enough of the civil war in the game to make it feel like there's anything to participate in.
- Combat should be tactically interesting.
Admittedly, combat can be quite fun and interesting if done right.
- Key Star Wars locations should be richly populated with plot.
Then why is Theed palace empty? (Just an example).
- Dynamically created locations should emphasize intrigue and adventure.
They don't.
- Star Wars characters should be developed and detailed in the game.
Then shouldn't the major characters do more than just give out missions, crappy items, and send you on your way?
- There should be more moment-to-moment interdependence (group tactics, etc).
I don't do enough group stuff to comment on this.
- Adventuring should be as profitable and engaging as taking missions.
Good luck with that.
- You should be able to play fruitfully in a short play session.
Good luck with that.
I'm sorry I sound so cynical, I really do enjoy this game, I'm a patient person, and I do believe that in a few months, the game will be where it should've been when it was released, and then beyond that, things will only get better. I love the game, I think the DEV's should maybe not jerk us around so much and just give us the facts, not the fancy.
Thank you for posting this. Now "my" reposting it again, wont get it deleted or locked. You are right on the money with this post.
Cheers....!
I want to kiss this person!![]()
There's just one question with all this talk about DE's being the top priority......
When Mounts and Player Cities were the "top priority," our Dev was relocated to work on that. In fact, many Devs were made to focus on that agenda, and not their generally assigned ones.
So now that apparently they say we're the top priority, does that mean that other Devs are working on us as well, and not just our one? I would smile at least if I knew the Creature Handler, Weaponsmith, and Bounty Hunter devs were all on our issues, heh.
Heh. I'll be watching the Chef forums for that one post from the Correspondant saying, "Well, our Dev has been averted to the Droid Engineers. Ritual Group Suicide shall be scheduled for this Friday, 8:00 PM...."
