Thread: Grumblings from a Droid's Belly....
I am quite pissed off here. As a DE, I have spent countless hours working up, just to find out that no one at all wants a droid. Oh sure, there is the occasional medical droid I sell, but one droid a week is hardly grounds for a profession, more like an expensive hobby. Now after reading thru the boards, I have noted several things that are purported as coming. New droid fixes and possible upgrades and additional combat droids. The closest I can find on timeframes is like Jan-Feb.
Um, whoopie. It should be in the next few weeks, not months.
Well, I have an idea, something to temporarily fix the DE's from vanishing into oblivion until the real fixes are in place.
Simply quadruple the HAM of a probot for now. Wow, actually put us on par with a CH. Forget everything else, fix those problems with the real fix, but for now just up the probots so we have something useful to sell.
Here is what happened to me last night:
Buyer: Hey, I see your a droid engineer, do you sell droids?
ME: Of course, what kind are you looking for?
Buyer: One of those floating things with lots of legs, the one from the movie
ME: Ah, a Probot, good choice...
Buyer: I want a decent pet, and not a lot of folks use droids, are they that expensive to make?
ME: Oh hell no, I have some ready in deed form right now, you can have one for $25k, ready to go. I'll even throw in a crate of batteries.
Buyer: Wow, thats cheap, Um, what are the batteries for?
CH: Hey buyer, you dont want a droid, you want one of these! (whips out a huge drooling nasty looking creature)
Buyer: Whoo... thats really cool pet, but I kinda wanted a droid rather than a big hairy cat.
ME: Yeah, everyone has a creature, droids make you stand out more ![]()
CH: Dont listen to him, the best thing he has only has 800 HAM, this one guy here has over 3000 HAM and a very fast attack rating. My pet will kick his droids ass in about 20 seconds.
(At this point I have engaged the CH in a very nasty /tell exchange)
Buyer: Ah, no wonder everyone wants a creature. How much you asking?
CH: 75k, a bargain...
I sadly shake my head as a little 'ding' sounds from my probot, I look over at him and watch the droid reach up with one of those menacing arms and retreive my perfectly toasted pop-tart from his Easy-Bake Toaster Module and hand it to me. Hey, at least I get free food ![]()
Hey, maybe I can actually strap a MSE droid on each foot, add an advanced droid motive system to them and fly around?
Is a "droid belly" a new component I haven't heard about? ![]()
Anyhow, you should've mentioned the fact that the probot is still a better tank than his 3000 HAM creature. The creature has no armor, and the probot has medium armor, 40% resists (assuming you maxxed out the armor). Sure the probot deals crap for damage, but it would hold up to his non-CH pet quite well, I'd imagine.
Plus, using the probot for a tank, you get better xp from kills, because you do most of the damage, with creatures, they basically steal your xp because they do significantly more damage.
CH pets = animal
Droids = mineral
You can't heal mineral... Just feed it batteries.
I tend to think that everyone need probots just to group with and get more money per mission.
But here is a thought, a Probot is at about what... lvl 17 or so, most things at that level have over 1000 ham, if the Devs could just up the ham to 2000 or 1500 depending on the Defense modules then our whining would be minimal....
I had a up and coming DE ask me what he could use his Lifter Droid for. Sadly I typed to fast for my own good.
"You can grill great Durmi steaks on those lifting pads if you heat them."
