Thread: Changing out droid parts?
This could provide more steady income, allow owners to upgrade as new parts or higher grade parts become available. I think just about every SW movie made has somebody working on repairing a droid or modifying them. Annakin worked in a JUNKYARD!
I agree with this idea 100%
Infact, the graphic for droid modules actualy looks like a pull-out stereo. I think it would be great and would give us something more to sell. For example: Players could actualy buy an R-unit and then buy additional modules toeither replace damaged ones or make the droid usefullin a largerrange of areas.
Of course this would mean that additional droid modules would have to be implimented as some droids can already hold just about every module in existance, R-3.
I semi-agree with this idea, with a couple changes:
-You shouldn't be able to change out modules. The module you take out should be the same type as you put in. ie: No changing a food crafting module for a weapon crafting module.
-Droids should be "capped" at how high a module they can hold. ie: an R4 unit can only hold up to say, a lvl 3 module, if you want a higher level module, you need a higher level droid...
Simply allowing modules to be swapped out at will, would prevent the purchase of new droids, possibly hurting our sales...

I thought of that (swapping modules instead of buying droids affecting sales) but also realize that people would more readily give up 5-10k for a new module than 30-60k for a new droid. You would probably sell more module installations than the cost of a new droid in a given time (especially with decay). For the role player crowd.... sometimes they become attached to a droid because of all the history they have had together. Deleting them is hard. I know. I have hung on to the same droid for a very long time ("Grumpy"). So, I still like the idea of changing modules out. Possibly destroying the old module on removal though.
I really like the Chassis plan (as is stickied above) and dislike the idea that an MSE can do everything a R3 can do in essence currently. So having levels apply is sound.
When I said new modules.... I meant NEW modules. Maybe they can have a fishing module for the treadwells that will allow them to fish at a much better rate than we can. Maybe a new rescue module that will get you on your feet when you are incapped. Autoharvester that follows you around and harvests meat/hide/etc from your kills. etc.
