Hey DE's out there...

I'm a Fencer/Bio-Engineer and the only droid i have at the moment is a fugitive tracker with some kind of module inside so I can experiment on my BE creations while out in the field...

I want a new droid...and I've scanned through the threads below looking for information about what this new Publish 7 did for you guys but really didn't find many positive remarks about it...

I'd like to know the resists, ham, and damage of the best combat droids that are able to be made right now are...and one other thing...I don't wanta probot or something...I want a humanoid droid who walks around and follows and shoots and blaster...a badass droid

Thanks everyone

K I found some info for myself after a couple more minutes of research....

and I see that the two most combat capable droids are adv. R3 droids and adv. probots...so my question now is...which one should I try and get? can both have the same number of combat modules? thanks for reading....

I took a little time during lunch... there have been many many requests
from droid-savey customers requesting R3s with 6 combat modules. These
people know that the Probot can only get a total of 5 installed. On
the outside, it would apear that the R3s are better combat droids. Here
are the particulars:

The Combat modules I am making all have a rating of 110. When
installed in the droid, wether they have been used to make 330 clusters,
or are installed in the individual sockets (a probot can take one
cluster (3) and two individuals for a total of 5)

The Probot Advanced has a MAX HAM of 1100, which I have been able to
attain. That is 100% experimented across the board. It has a 153-165
wallop, and a combat rating of 550 (with only 5 blasters, it should
have been 500, but the nature of the droid apparently adds 50). It also
has a .75 speed, and a .38 "to hit" with 40% armor, and no armor rating.
Note: This is a pure combat droid. There is no room left for any
utility modules.

The R3 has a MAX HAM of 1700, which I have been able to attain. 100%
again. It has a hit of 123-143 which is inconsistient with the nuber
of blasters. It has a combat rating of 600, which IS consitient with
the number of blasters (combat rating is directly realted to the damage
it can deal). The speed is 1.5 , and the "to hit" is .38. Note: This
is a pure combat droid. There is no room left for any utility modules.

Now, lets compare the two side by side:

HAM Wallop Armor Speed To-Hit
Probot ADV 1100 ~160 40% .75 .38
R3 1700 ~130 40% 1.5 .38
Winner R3 Probot Tie Probot Tie

Based on this, there is no clear winner. So me and my good friend
DelbertD (who has a great stock of the new lights on his Mos Onarok
vendors) dueled them. Using the new repair kits, we were able to fight
them over and over. We fought them a total of 5 times. The end
result? The R3 won 4-1. It was close each time, but the R3 Edged out
the Probot. Perhaps because of its higher HAM. Keep in mind, these are
the very best versions of each droid possible! They can't be made any
better.

Also, and this is a shock, I am sure... After the so called crafting
nerf is taken out, the quality will likely go down. As a Master with
12 experimentation points, I am able to consistiently hit 100% on most
things. When the system reverts, I will be back to 95-99%. The point
of the nerf was to spread the gap, and give meaning to being a master
anything. So get out there and get the great guns while the WS can
still make them! I'll try to produce as many droids as I can.

Watch for the results from various other combinations of droids. I
might even see what'll happen if the probots has a med module instead
of pure combat.

UPDATE

Not going to post the whole thing again, just the LE Repair comparison:

HAM Wallop Armor Speed To-Hit
Probot ADV 1100 ~160 40% .75 .38
R3 1700 ~130 40% 1.5 .38
LE ADV 2200 ~80 20% 1.5 .36
Winner LE Probot Tie Probot Tie (close enough to not matter)

The LE Repair got whooped every time. It was 0-17 against the other droids.
We fought it so many times because it was hilarious. We had a crowd of about
14 folks. I was able to whoop the nerfed pre-nerf, though.

The LE Advanced is NOT a viable combat droid.

Ok I think it comes down to two simple questions to determine what you want in a droid.

1) Are you trying to just kill things?

OR

2) Are you trying to get combat xp.

if #1 suits your fancy then grab a probot. You can still get some xp if you help out, but not as much as if you did most of the damage.

if #2 is what you are looking for grab an LE repair droid. They have high HAM so they tend to last longer against standard enemies before you have to repair them.

if you're looking to do both, then you might try an R-series. I haven't personally used them so I don't know how they stack up.

As far as other things go GET LOTS OF REPAIR KITS.
I find that ~850 energy typically keeps a probot near top condition fighting medium levels, but keeps the LE about even when fighting bigger things. So you might want to invest in Repair Kit B's for Probots and Repair Kit C's for LE.

I'd recommend the R series droids for tanks w/ damage capability as the best mix of tank and cannon. I'm a Master Carbineer working on Master CH and trying to keep money flowing fast and furious, so being the one to cause peak damage on a target isn't critical and the pets only need to hit once to get me the CH xp, so its stealing nothing from me in terms of xp and enhancing the amount of money coming in by adding its inflated CL rating to my group at the terminals while providing an effective additional damage shield between me and a nasty hostile.

Believe me, I've been a CH since before the armor nerf on us before Patch 5, the loss of armored droids is annoying to me, but nothing I haven't been through before.

Hi

The adv. probot holds 5 modules and the R3 six modules.

The r3 has around 1700 ham, the probot around 1100.

The probot fires faster .. and tests show that the probot often comes out on top when those to fight it out.

My own opinion is that i dont want R3 doing my fighttint .. it simply isent right - the probot is more "combat like" (even tho its a PROBE and not a hardcore fighter)
