Thread: Weird Factory Bug

I keep running into a problem with my equipment factory. I started a run of Arakyd Probe Droids the other night and loaded up Electronics GP/Mem modules in crates of 25. I got an email shortly after I started the factory saying it was out of these ingredients, I went and checked the input hopper and the crates were untouched. I ran into the same problem with a run of advanced droid brains. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

Check the serial numbers of the crates you're trying to use against the serial number for the parts needed in the schematic. You have to use the same serial numbers as the one used to make the schematic.

I had a problem with this, but the crates were REALLY old. Although they had the same serial numbers, the factory would not use them. I finally pulled all of the items from the crate and put them into the factory individually, and it started working. You might try doing this to see if it works, but make sure that the serial numbers are the same first.

Bah. I bet that is the problem. Dagblasted game. Guess Ill run enough modules to cover what I need, I didn't realize they all had to be the same serial number. DOH!

I have a very old crate with two memory modules in it. I double click it, the count goes to 1, then back to two, and no chip. Heck, this crate doesn't even show up if I try to make something that requires that chip. The crate is not "Seen" by my crafting tool.

Now THAT is a blast from the past, LOL.

Crates would become intermidently bugged and behave exactly how you describe; this was ESPECIALLY painful back in the day when we had to load factories with subcomponents one part at a time - they didn't accept crates. So the most adv droid brains you could ever make at once was 12, since you had to unpack the crates in your inventory and transfer each additional sub-component.

I'd say your crate got lost in the bug somewhere - and the crate code isn't that far back backwards compatable - which is also what I'd take from the fact that it won't even appear to craft with.

Thanks for the nostalgia.

actually, I have been having this factory bug since patch 7 went live, it reminds of some beta and shortly after launch factory bugs.

It'll stop partway through a run (the runs it has stopped on are all over 350 items, initially, not sure if that matters).

it has all the correct ingredients, correct serial numbers, input hopper space (not that that matters), output hopper space, power, and maintenance, and the correct schematic. I double, triple, quintuple check everything. stops. usually it will not restart, but sometimes it will, esp if i let it go until the morning after a server reset. but that makes a factory run take 10 times as long, and I don't have the inventory or house space to put all the stuff in the factory into my house. The old fix for factory bugs used to be re-deeding the factory then re plopping it down. Well, this kind of bug popping back up again makes me uneasy.

Also lately, sometimes the input hopper? I put the ingredients in it, and it doesn't show the resources I just put in unless i change view to the list mode form instead of icons. The factory will not recognize the ingredients are in there when this happens. This is separate from the above tho, in most of my factory problems it has shown every single ingredient in the input hopper and still stops for no reason.

Anyway, it's been rather annoying.

Factories have always been 'wonky'.

There have been several times when industry shut down due to factory strangeness. They seem to be running now...but still with some oddness here and there.

I'd still love to see Factory view windows give a column with the crates serial numbers listed (that goes for any windows).

I'll keep an eye on this. If someone sees this happen (or something like it) try to get me details. I konw the Devs love to nail down factory problems if/when they can.
