Yes, its interesting, and makes you wonder what other things they are capable of doing.

What a way to dumb down crafting...

I guess it's too much to ask people to think.

I've had a chance to play around with this some (not a whole lot) and its not quite as cut and dry as it seems. It gives you the values for one resource (so for example, you could see whether one type of copper was better than another) but it doesn't factor in all the other resources you're using, so you can still get odd results using resources that don't have a required stat, plus you'd still have to average the different resources out by hand if you want to guestimate the max stats.

I've tried it out on TC a few times and really like it...it really comes in handy when you have resources with similar stats but maybe on is slightly higher in a specific area...the crafting bars show you which one would actually work better and take out some of the guess work...

It could mean the difference between a 58 Det Droid and a 59 without wasting resources and components...

So far, I like the changes.

Yes...it may be dumbing the process down some. However, that isn't necessarily a horrid thing either.

What I like is that the new bars/formula are really just a way for me to verify what I may have suspected in the first place (i.e. that Copper X will be better for me on an item than Copper Y).

Right, but Garvin, that's the point - to have to experiment with different combinations to find the best one.

I played with it on TC as well, and it's really lame. No thinking involved. No experimenting. No surprising results.

It's totally dumbing down crafting. It's like a combat person /examining the MOB, and instead of seeing it has a vulnerability to blast and having to decide yourself to switch to a weapon that deals that damage, the weapon automatically equips for you. It takes what little thinking was involved.

It's obvious that between this and other changes they are trying to totally devalue crafting and crafters. What you call "wasting" resources and components, I call "research and development". Or "education". You should have to "waste" a few resources in order to get that perfect det droid - the ability to select your materials is the sign of a true crafter, and when the computer takes away all risk to the process it's like combat when insurance was turned off - no risk makes success much less fufilling..

Hum, before they made this change you had to add conductivity and OQ of your different resources and pick the highest.

It's not thinking, experimenting, or surprising.

It's doing math. Mentaly, take about .5 second.

If you wan to compare this change ot the combat system, you can, it's exactly like the little color circle you see at the left of the mob names and that indicate with a color if he's much harder, harder, par, lower, ridiculousily low compared to you combat wise.

It's just the same thing.
A nice UI improvement, that's all.

I just see it as a tool that saves me time. I always add up the relevant resource stats at their schematic % rating, and find theresources with the highest composite relevant average before I even open up the tool anyway. I have seen some WS spreadsheets that will actually seek out from a list of hundreds of resources the best ones to use in making X schematic. That's pretty dumbed down too then. I'd rather spend that time interacting with customers, or Guildmates, seeking out new resource WP's to harvest, etc., rather than trying to make a module with set "ABC" reosurces, then another with set "ABD", then again with "ABE", then "ACD", etc.... There are enough time-sinks, and this is one of the ones I am least interested in. But I can see how some people will tackle the challenge with gusto, and to them, I say more power to ya! I like that they are addig to the UI, since it means that one day they will really "wow" us with a change instead of it always being the samw.
