Since I just mastered DE I am broke and scraping resources, so I am wondering, what are the best selling droids as of late?

I have made some BH droids, probbot and seekers - 0 sold

Made a medical LE droid crafting and the lot - 0 sold

Made an R2 entertainer droid w/ 3 effects - o sold

Made mouse droids with storage abilities - 0 sold

Made a R4 with merchant barker module in it - 1 sold.

So a little help would be appreciated. A lot of people seem to be visiting my vendors, but no one is buying.

to be honest based on droids being what ever the person who comes along needs it could be anything, at first i sold lot entertainer models, now its back to combat and medical types, but today been asked for a protocol with just storage and personalty chip so you can never tell.

I have a vendor (on the planetary map) with only BH droids and interplanetary survey droids and those do very well. The rest of my sales are all from word of mouth or just simply walking around Theed or Coronet with my MDE tags on. I hope this helps.

Maybe this isn't the kind of advice you're looking for, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and ask: could it be the environment in which you sell your droids, rather than the actual items?

If your shop is an empty house with no furnishings, no lights, no nothing, just vendors sitting there, people may get the impression that they should shop somewhere else. Do you interact with your customers? How about your vendor(s)? Do you have clear, simple name listings of your droids, or do you have a cluttered, confusing jumble of abbreviated descriptions in the deed title? Do you include your own item description of your droids and what is in them? Is your vendor stocked with a decent selection of droids?

If your shop is furnished, has lighting, plants, pictures, droid models, and other attractive things to look at which make it a pleasant place to be, they'll want to come back. And if your vendor tells them what they are buying (remember almost no one can decipher the default data given for a droid's attributes), obviously they'll be more likely to buy something. If you stock your vendor, people will consider it the place to go to find what they need, or to browse. Stocking your vendor is the most important thing you can do to get off the ground as a DE.

I don't know your situation of course, but I've always been of the opinion that most people who don't make any money with DE just aren't very good at it (see above), or don't put enough effort into it (see above). These are the people who then post sarcastic and bitter remarks about the profession being worthless, a waste of time, etc. I don't want you to do the same thing. Put your heart into it, don't be lazy, and you'll get a lot out of being a DE.

now that you mention it, there isn't to much in the main sales area. Back room is looking good, may have to do some rearranging. This used to be my armor museum till I decided to sell droids. I have my two vendors, one for BH droids (clearly marked) and one for others. I have 2 lights, and the ST armomr set, Marine armor set, and the maurader armor still all in the room. And so far only one display droid. More crafting in my future to make some deeds to display I guess. That and maybe bring more items from the back to the front room.

Thanks again for the help.

Yeah, you'd be surprised how much appearance matters in sales businesses, just like in real life. I get compliments all the time about what a nice shop I have, and all I did was put some flowers, chairs, droid models, and plenty of lights into a symmetrical arrangement in two rooms. Make things look nice, keep things clear and simple, be dependable and helpful, take time to explain to people what your droids do. And KEEP YOUR VENDOR STOCKED. These are the keys to success in the droid engineer profession. Good luck!

I am just a 4,0,0,4 DE. Slowly grinding out the last 2 trees. And being 4,0,0,4 limits my ability to do custom requests. So...

I only make MSE Storage droids and sell them at 3k a pop. Sometimes in crates of 5. Have sold over 30 crates at a slow pace during the past 2 months. Sales have picked up since I started advertising in my local Trade Forum about 3 weeks ago.

My vendor is Registered in South Coronet (but I doubt that actually influence sales)

I do not spam Coronet or other heavily trafficed locales. I do not use the /auction channel. My vendor is located in a PA Shopping Mall (which might influence sales - from browsing customers with some spare cash)

My target clients are players who need the extra storage... especially Jedi.

Hope that helps.

I've been selling 10 item storage MSE droids on the bazaars for 6k each. I've sold about 100 of them in the last week alone.

There is a 25 item limit on the bazaar so you have to arrange your items in proportion to how fast they sell in that place.

I've found this arrangement works best.

10 in coronet

5 in theed

5 in mos eisley

5 in bestine

I've been having to do an almost complete restock ever day or 2.

For me, I sell alot of BH supplies. I normally run out of stock on crates of Arakyds. I keep restocking, but they keep buying. The seekers sell to a slightly lesser extent. My best seller of all is crated detonating droids. I think I'm the only DE on the server mass producing these and they sell by the crate load. Word is getting out to all the BH's on my server and I've been seeing sales skyrocket. My feeling is, the less Jedi there are in the game, the better. Dark meat or white meat Jedi... Doesn't matter.

Of course we'll have to see if I can stay in business due to the vendor nerf, but those are my best selling items.

I have sold a huge assortment of droids in my short time now as MDE.

Probably the most popular is a medic style droid, with the level 6 med, and item, as well as a food crafting station.

I get a few BH droid sales, nothing huge yet tho

It's fairly easy to talk the PvE players into some sort of combat droid, either full combat, or tanker.

And last but not least, just plain storage droids. I've gotten ppl wanting 5 at a time

Z

discalimer: off my vendor, i've sold less than 10 droids. The rest of my sales seem to come from referrals by past customers, which I craft & deliver in what i hope is record time hehe. Stand in a starport, and sell yer droids... been working well for me

Those are the good sellers.

Now you need advertising.

What I do :
Put 10 item storage MSE on my vendor for 5K.
Go to the bazaar and put 10 item storage MSE for 6K with in description : cheaper at my shop coord, planet, closest city.

Also, if you can afford advertising 4, a barker droid will boost your sales, if used at the right place, at the right time. The Weekend after a publish, whatever is in the publish is a big selling period if you advertise well.

Oh, and planetary map is a must.

DZ70 combat droid on bazaar with better at my shop comment also works well.

From best to worst for me

MSE Adv w/10-item storage -Sell 10-15 a week

R4 Adv w/Food Crafting, 110 med and 10 item storage -Sell 2-10 a week. Hard to keep in stock.

Combat R3, 600 rating w/4432 HAM -All but disappeared from my vendor in 2 weeks onceI hit ADV 4.

Combat Probots 5xx rating 2/3152 HAM -Sales picked up when R3's were out of stock.

LE Tanks w/ 1 combat and two auto repair modules -Disappear fast...think it has something to fo with 5900 HAM

Exploding MSE and R3 -Steady sales on crates, not singles.

Harvest Droids, 105 rated Best I can do on SunRunner -One or two a week, steady sales.

Entertainer Droids, 6 Effect modules - One or two a week, infrequent bursts of sales. Picked up once I gave a few away to entertainers.

R3 with all crafting, 110med and 10-item storage -Built 6, priced them at 100k and sold 4 in two days. One person bought two. (??) I would not recommenf sellling many ofthese as customers wont need to come back.

Stimpack R3 w/500+ capacity -Some interest. If you sell these sell the stim A crates too. (Talk to local medics for schematics)

Other comments (falling asleep, must be quick)

-Sales increased dramatically once I reached Advertising 4 and registered on the map.

-Drop you vendor in a merchant tent near other STOCKED vendors. Dont place near a dozen unstocked vendors...might as we open a store selling tap dancing shoes in the middle of a mine field. No one will come.

-Placing your vendor next to the shuttleport in your city (I assume you are in a city) helps lots!

-Decorate your store (as said earlier by...someone) Theme stores are interesting, but even plain furniture helps.

-Hand-build your crafting droid, but use good crated parts. This lets you customize color at the end. I cant validate this, but I think customers disciminate on color s even if droid customisation tools are available. Give them a choice or three. HAMdoesnt matter so you should be able to live with the odd critical fail.

-Decide if you want to do custom orders or not. This will determine what you carry in your pack when you're out and about. If you're not doing custom jobs, pull your MDE tag down.
