I'll admit - I am very ignorant about droids in general ... I have a medical droid I use out in the field purely to heal my own wounds, but that is it... my question is re: all those combat droids I see for sale.
Exactly how effective/useful are they in combat? We all know that creature handler's pets do pretty dismal damage but survive quite nicely once they grow up (10k HAM, etc)... I've seen expensive combat droids for 125k or more with things like "600 combat rating" (dunno what that means) and usually around 4k HAM...
How fragile are these things? Do they have any sort of armor or do they get destroyed very easily? How useful is their damage? Are we talking pathetic hits of 100-200 damage or so? I am very curious about these droids but I dont want to drop a ton of credits for something that is as useless as a rebel special OPS pet that costs 450 faction, etc...

Droid can have armor that is AP0 and maxed at 20%
So, they have 20%% resist on everything except LS.
Damage wise, it's probably an R3.
It'll do about 150-170 damage every 1.5 second.
A probot will have a little less ham about 3.2K but do more damage 170-190 every .75 seconds.
So, pure damage dealing droid won't be as strong as a pet, but will do more damage.
On the other side, you can have tank droid, with auto-repair module.
Good one will do far less damage than a BE pet, but when auto-repair activated can last longer than a BE pet even if the pet has 2 or 3 times his ham.
Auto-repair module allow the droid to heal himself and all the droid in his group close to him for something between 15 for 1 module to 100 for 5 module (never saw a 100 on a live server tough) every 10 seconds.
100 mean healing 100 damage in each ham bar every 10 second.
So against some mobs he'll probably die quickly but for mission it's the best tank you can have if you're not CH.
