Just saw Tiggspost that Blue Glowies will no longer have access to the correspondents forum.

It wasn't really an issue with the glowies themselves, the correspondent boards were just getting a bit crowded. Whenever you get larger groups of people posting things lose focus and start to degrade.

were they at least told beforehand? I hope they didn't find out the same time we did, or when they tried to go to the forum this morning.

With all the past/current Corrs and BG's, the Corr forum just got near saturation. Too many cooks in the kitchen, basically.
Our voices are hardly gone, however....I can assure you.

The change is not one that I agree with, but it is one that I understand.
With close to 100 people in the Correspondents program, prior and current included, there was a lot of room for disagreement and discord. Even the 30ish current Correspondents can create a lot of friction and noise between one another. Its something that will always happen when you put that many people together, who all have a very strong devotion to the game, and the communities that they represent.
I don't agree with the change because it removes a wealth of feedback from the Blue Glowies, on subjects that will impact all of the Communities. The BGs were able to offer any assistance that they could to the current Correspondent. Removing the BGs limits all of a Communities voice toone or twopeople, depending on whether or not another Correspondent is fluent in the same profession.
There are many other problems that I have with this change, but as I said I do understand the reasoning behind it. Having 100+ people that are all passionate about the game, in a forum devoted towards trying to improve the game, adds a lot of work for the DEVs and Moderators. I think that the Correspondents program has moved out of the realm of where it was originally designed to function in, but at the same time has completely missed the mark of where it should be at.
I have complete faith in Jenden and his ability to represent this community and our needs for the game. Unfortunately, I am having my doubts that LucasArts - note that I didn't say SOE on this one - will be able to follow through with the direction that SOE needs to take the game.

Even with the reasons behind it, I think it is a bad idea.
I have total faith in Jenden, but felt much better knowing you 2 were there as well.

hehe, I liked having some backup there as well, but there were definately getting to be too many people (and the number just keeps going up instead of down).

Jenden, you've got all the backup you need right here. We are raising our issues at every chance we can get without being a nuisanceand that's all that can be expected.

Being a correspondent isn't supposed to be a "special club" with a lifetime membership, it's a volunteer position with a specific function. When one leaves that position, there is no reason other than vanity or personal interest to wish to remain part of the correspondent forums. Once you are no longer a correspondent, you no longer have the responsibility to represent anyone and therefore the tools should not remain just because some correspondents believe their opinion should be registered because they were once that correspondent.
It just makes sense. Otherwise, imagine how it would be in a year, or three. When there are hundreds of former correspondents, being a correspondent would change from being a job with a function to a barrier to this special "club". Once you are no longer a correspondent, your opinion shouldn't matter any more than the "grunts", nor should you be privy to information that the rest of us aren't just because you once were. They provide that information to help the corresponents in their function, and when you are no longer filling that function there is no reason other than personal curiousity to have access to that information.
